GULGALLANA + CALICO

[You are ushered through an archway covered in flowers of your team color and find yourself in a different, smaller garden- or at least, what will soon be a garden. Plots of freshly turned soil are lined up in two rows and the area is littered with all the tools you could need. The small field is surrounded on three sides by a wooden fence, and past it all that can be seen is a thick white fog.

Along the back fence is a wooden table, covered with paper seed packets. Each packet has the plant name and a price neatly written on the front, along with some...slightly strange descriptions. You can examine them all you like, but you'll find you can't actually pick up the packets...until you pay for them, of course. A small pile of silver coins sits on the table next to the seeds, which you can move and distribute freely.

A voice speaks from the sky as you look around, just as loud and obnoxiously cheerful as before:]

Okay, let's get started already! Today you guys are gonna try to grow the best garden you possibly can! You can handle that, right? Yeah, I know ya can! Seriously, it ain't hard, just buy whatever ya want! Oh, but be sure to take good care of them, and make sure they all grow big and strong. Trust me- you're gonna need 'em!

...Attack plants, is it...? Either way, we'll need at least one attacker in every row, I suppose. Which locks up at least 50 points by default.

...I guess the best sort of garden is one with tons of pretty flowers, right?

Not necessarily. We can alternate attack with defense in the front row, for example, and place catapults behind the walnuts.

And which also repels sieges from enemy forces, evidently.

Ah, right. Let me rephrase that. Every column. They say it doesn't matter, but... If we're going to try to win, we'll want to grow sunflowers, and they're going to need some form of protection.

Well, how about two sunflowers in the back, with walnuts in front of them?

We can do that. With that, we've spent 50 points for 4 slots... We're going to need some form of attack, too... Peashooters are the most cost-effective overall, but...

Remember, we do not need to fill all of the plots.

We don't need to, no. Still, unused space is also space that isn't doing anything useful.

Yeah... I've never seen one do that before, though, so we'll see if it works.

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] debate_avenger 2014-12-01 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's probably going to be part of it, too... Do you have any flower preferences?

So, we could buy five more basic plants, or three of the 15 credit plants. Or perhaps two of each.

I think snapdragons, marigolds, and sunflowers are the only ones that actually are flowers... or at least the kind you'd display in your garden, anyway. So maybe if any of those are useful.

A balanced approach is advisable, I think.

...Then, how about a Cabbage in the back with a walnut in front, and... Hm. A snapdragon and a peashooter, perhaps?

Yeah, especially since we don't know what we're going up against...

Yes, that would be effective, I think. A diverse arsenal with a good balance.

Well, sunflowers seem like they give us victory points, so those are ideal. Okay, I think we've got our setup figured out, then...

Hopefully it's nothing too bad... or if it is, that the garden, well, can fight it off.
