I dunno about for other people. But for me... Having a friend means having somebody there to do fun things with and make happy memories with. You can't really do that by yourself - it's always better with a friend around.

And yeah, sometimes people leave. They move away, or they're stuck in the pods for a while, or they go home, or they die. And that hurts. But that doesn't mean the good times didn't happen.

Never having anybody around at all would hurt more than having to say goodbye eventually but being happy while they're there, I think.
