GULGALLANA

You step into a small airy room made entirely of porcelain and frosted glass. Squishy armchairs — the old fashioned type; pretty velvet affairs with patterns of roses in your team’s color and legs of dark wood — line the walls.

Pride of place in the center of the room is a table, upon which rests: a list of instructions; a spread of cards; and a box made out of mirrored glass with eleven slits in the top. Each slit is outlined in a team color.

Beyond the table is a huge, floor to ceiling hourglass. A certain number of blood red crystals reside at the bottom ...

[Glancing at those cards, and...]

This isn't good at all.

I say we play two, one major one minor.

The problem is that we only have one minor. This doesn't bode well for how this game's going to go.

A couple of these... aren't so bad? Like... the "loss of all skills," "itching powder," or "lose a significant memory." ... I think.

The problem is that the last time that kind of option showed up in a game run by Nyssa, they had to quest to get that stuff back. It's likely that if they lose them, they might have lost them until they get them back from Nyssa.

Ideally, we would play the loss of all skills on a team that got a new person: Then they can "lose all their skills" without actually losing anything. That would mean Henwen or... I think I saw a new Tiamat? If we're going to target anyone with that one, it should be one of those two teams.

Well... Loss of skills isn't necessarily deadly.

It's more that I expect Nyssa to keep them and force people to quest for them back, giving her even more power. She's done that before.

Mm...though we have to assume there's a chance the effects will be permanent.

Re: DISCUSSION

Ah, right... Because Echoes get powers from quests...

[ WELL. That makes... a lot of sense. ]

I think I've seen Tiamat change quite a bit recently? And I know Ed will... live without his powers. Or not be too upset to lose them.

Yeah. Kind of like... Uhm... When I first came here, there was that game with the pairs...

[ Trauma prom. She's talking about trauma prom. ]

And... we might not be able to quest our patron to get things back? Hm...

If she wants to control us and get more power, she'll withhold whatever she can. That's how she is, isn't it?

Then we'll send that one to Tiamat. Aside from that, we should probably send something at either Vanara or Alectryon.

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] naturen 2015-04-11 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
That's... true.

[ Makes Katie and her porn peddlin' look pretty good right about now, eh? ]

And the consequences on the card'll probably get even bigger as we go along, so... Trying to play really low right now'll just mean we don't have any, uh... "soft" options later?

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] naturen 2015-04-11 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe a... medium-ish card? So we can have some really soft stuff for later rounds.

There's not much we can do about it, then. Unless we'd rather take it and do it for ourselves.

Re: DISCUSSION

If we want to win, we can't be concerned with playing low or trying to protect anyone but ourselves. If you want to spare them, that's a decision you have to make before we even start.

I'm alright with the first two, but . . . the third one isn't something I'd . . . like to use if we don't have to.

If it was a random memory, maybe, but . . . not a significant one.

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] debate_avenger 2015-04-11 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at the very least, it's probably safer to use that one on a team with a new person: That means that there's at least a chance that the skill loss won't do anything at all. We're thinking of using that on Tiamat for now. At the very least, not having to worry about it should make things easier.
debate_avenger: (I can't explain.)

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] debate_avenger 2015-04-11 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
The closest to "medium-ish" we've got is removing a minor body part, though.

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] naturen 2015-04-11 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really feel like that one has the, uh... right value anyway. So I'd be fine with saving it.
