soulping | Blade's Heart

[When you wake, you find yourselves in an oval-shaped room. Everything about you is paneled in metal: the walls, the ceiling, the floor. Rather than cold, hard steel, it has a warmer sheen to it, a familiar sense. It feels right.

Directly ahead of you are two doors, side by side. The one on the left is blue. The one on the right is red. In the centre of the room is a table, which seems to be scattered with objects.

To the left of the blue door, the metal is interrupted by a few set of bookshelves built into the walls … and oddly, half covered in vines and leaves. The vines themselves, and indeed the whole area, have a strangely faded look to them; like something draining of colour towards sepia. More noteworthy is that Blade is shelving some books there, in an unfamiliar outfit.

To your right, the smooth lines of the wall are broken yet again by a series of panels set among the etched outline of a mountain.

Behind you … there isn’t much. Just a faint outline of a door-sized rectangle, with some kind of pronged symbol scratched into the centre of it.]

[You enter a dim, stuffy room. It's hard to see much - the lighting is low, and the available light is red and flickering. It's coming from a large rectangular opening set into the wall on your left. Some kind of panel is present on the wall nearby.

The air itself seems vaguely oppressive in here. There's more to this room. Something in the back of your mind whispers so. But it's hidden in shadow.]

[With a great heave, you manage to pull down the lever. The room suddenly vibrates, and the whirring of machinery stirs under you. The furnace opening - because that's what it is - bursts to life, and the flames inside roar and flare. The room is abruptly illuminated in the glow of the working furnace; within a few minutes, it will also start to heat. At least now you can see!

The room now visible in front of you is boxy and rectangular, panelled in hard steel. Two metal doors are set into the wall on your right. Further past them on the right wall hang... bodies. Apparently stabbed in place with a variety of beams and poles.

Another door lies at the end of the room, opposite the one you came in. This door is blue. On the floor in the middle of the room lies a wolf, lashed down with iron chains.]

[You arrive in Epona's dorm. Well, no, that's not accurate. At first glance it looks like Epona's dorm, but there are a few major differences. For starters, only two walls are here: the one the door is set in, and the wall to the right. Where the other two walls would be, the area opens out onto a field of grass that rolls down a slight hill. Trees are scattered around further down the hill, and in the distance sits a massive sattelite dish. Incongruously, a red door stands alone at the start of the grass. Just a door, without a wall.

Within the area that could still be called a dorm are a few familiar sights. Epona's dining table sits in the middle of the space, surrounded by seven chairs. A menorah stands in the middle of the table. The kitchen is the last part of the right wall. A woman is there with her back turned, stacking dishes. An Absol lies sleeping at her feet.

A large glass cabinet stands in the corner of the two walls. The wall the door is set in is mostly empty, save for what looks like a lot of writing...

The area, for all its strangeness, feels warm and familiar. The sun shines down brightly on the grass outside, and a pleasant breeze stirs the trees.]

[The door leads you into a smaller space, circular. Nothing adorns the white walls, though a touch will reveal them to still be some kind of metal. Another door lies opposite you.

The only thing of interest in the room - indeed the only thing in it at all - is a raised podium in the centre. Hanging above it is a large, glowing sphere of white light.]

[You enter another circular room, but this one is much larger, and darker. Not hard, considering the last one was filled with light.

The centre of the room is dominated by a free-standing structure with elevator doors. It looks just large enough to contain the body of the elevator itself.

The wall area to the left - and even some of the floor - is a tangled mess of vines. But they're odd to look at, grey and dull. Are they even plants? The outlines of some objects can be seen amidst their choking coils, both on the wall and on the floor.

On the right, a section of the curving wall seems to hold some flickering lights, though a large swath of it is cloaked in a strange darkness.

More immediately noticeable is that someone else is here, standing before the elevator doors. It's Miles.]

[The doors open onto a hexagonal space - you can tell this, because all six walls are mirrors. Most of these are full mirrors, but one seems incomplete. A section at the bottom is missing, shards broken away. The floor and ceiling, too, are mirrors.

In the centre stands Blade, with his back to them, hands clasped behind his back as he looks at the mirrors. He's wearing a long grey cape. Before anyone can say anything, he speaks first, without turning around:]

"I know what you've been doing."

[As if in response, all of the mirrors (except the broken one) blur and reflect something entirely different: Yuu unleashing the wolf, Miles launching a lightning bolt at Shaw, Lace unlocking the glass cabinet.]

[The elevator comes to a stop at level 0000, and the doors open. You step out into a dark, pentagonal space, where oddly enough the light comes from a smaller glass pentagon in the centre of the floor.

If you step up to it and peer down, you'll see a small, concrete room. There is nothing in there except for Blade, wearing a grey shirt and pants, sitting against one wall with his eyes closed.]

. . . Steel?

[. . . uh.

Before he approaches Erik, he's going to . . . investigate the table]

[He's slotting some books into the shelves, and glances at Miles as he speaks. He looks like Blade, certainly, but his clothes aren't that of Epona. He has a sword belted at his waist. What's more, he looks... younger. Somewhat like he did when he first arrived in Kyriakos. But was Blade ever this pale?]

"What are you doing here...?"

[A number of objects are set on the table here, seemingly at random. The table holds: an iron key, a stack of steel medallions, a packet of matches, a few etching tools, a large broken-off lever, a few knives, and some markers.]

I'm not sure, myself. I found myself here.

[ stepping closer to get a good look at him ] It is you, isn't it?

[it's like looking into a junk drawer, what the heck Erik.

He isn't going to take anything yet, because he has to ask. Cuz he's a nerd. So he's heading over to Erik to do as much]

Erik?

[he puts the last book away, dusting off his hands. those familiar scars are present on his wrists, more recent than they are on Blade.]

"Yes, it is. I'm not usually here either, but things can change quickly."

[Steel looks Miles over.]

"You look well."

Blade?

[ let's talk to the man himself first, that seems like a good place to start. ]

[glancing around at everything, but he catches her attention first]

[ that answers that question, at least. ]

"No. I'm not him."

"Yes..." [he looks at Hank properly, frowning a bit.] "Hank. What are you doing here?"

[he dusts his hands off as he replaces the last book, turning to face Yuu properly.]

"Steel. And you are?"

[pausing for a moment to work all that out]

Then, you must be the person he was before he came to Kyriakos...?
