HENWEN

[you’re ushered into doors that appear in the roots of Otto’s trees. The room is similar to last time - small, but with enough chairs for your entire team to sit down, and a table at the center. There's also a few, small beds, should anyone feel sick enough that they have to lay down.

On the table is another cardboard box, similar to last time as well. Only this time when you peer in, there’s a myriad of different herbs and other things. Otto’s voice echoes into the room with his usual, bored tone]

Last time, you cared for a friend of mine. This time, you’ll care for you and yours.

[LISTING THEM ALL OFF and adding]

Elderberry is good for colds and flus, echinacea helps to increase the body's resistance to infection, plaintain helps sore throats, astragalus helps the immune system, turmeric enhances immunity too...uhm, we should go with ones that will help to fight against a cold, right?
ghettobatman: (These aren't last season!)

[what a good Holly]

Yes, I'd agree. Elderberry and turmeric seem like good bets.

[breathing a little sigh of relief that he's willing to go along with her suggestions and smiling easier]

I thought so too. If we can choose nine of them, I'd rather have more than less, but I don't think we'll need everything. Some of them might help a patient recover faster, which might be what he's looking for.

Thank you.

[though he's wondering what that sigh is about...]

I suppose there's a chance some ingredients will hamper the effectiveness of the antidote if the choice is up to nine... though, some of these just sound like cooking ingredients.

Well, some of them are, but that doesn't mean they don't help to cure colds either. Oranges would be pretty effective in this case too. Honestly, my remedy for a cold or a flu would be elderberry extract with cloves and maybe some orange and cinnamon. We don't have all of those ingredients here, though. A lot of the items listed are for curing poison, so I think we can cross those ones off for sure.

Fair enough. I don't suppose you happen to know what cat's claw and pine tar are? [because he doubts they're literally cat's claw or pine tar...]

[turns the nerd switch on]

Cat's claw is a plant. It's mostly used for inflammatory diseases like arthritis. It mostly helps to reduce pain and stiffness, and can also help to boost immunity and is sometimes used to deal with viral infections.

Pine tar is just what it sounds like. It's dry pine wood that's been turned into tar. It's mostly used as a topical to treat skin diseases.

If we had to pick from everything here, I would say elderberry, ginger, garlic, oranges, turmeric, and crab apple are the ones most known for dealing directly with colds and flus.
