[When you come to, you find yourself locked in a small, cramped, antique elevator. One wall is covered with a large, ornate mirror, and a chandelier hangs above your head. The doors are made of metal and shut very, very tightly. The lights are off.]

[You hear two familiar voices echo distantly in your mind]

LET ME GO, Ǧ̲̖̩̞̣̲̌Ĩ͎R̞̩͎̝̍L̹̳̫̾͛Ȉ͙͈̬͐͒ͭ̄̌̊E̥̥̓ͨ!

I won't let you hurt them!

[Before you have time to say anything, the elevator suddenly jolts, before it begins to plummet. Your heart drops to the pit of your stomach as you fall, fall, fall, and then. . .]

[Suddenly it stops. You're thrown off balance, possibly to the point of where you crash into a wall or a nearby neighbor. All is silent]

[Until another voice, also familiar but different than the two you heard earlier, creeps into your mind]

Get out! Get out, get out, get out! B-before it's too late! Star. . . when she channeled Poltergeist, she trapped him and cut off his control of this game! His influence on the realm right now is shaky at best, escape from this place before he returns to kill you all!

But be careful. . . be careful! The realm is-- it's unstable, it's dangerous! And there may be parts of it that try to drag you back as you escape. . . if you're grabbed by something, struggle until you get away! And try not to get hurt!

[It's Haunt, sounding more frantic than she ever has before]

[ Aoko has ended up on the floor … somewhere … limbs akimbo, aching, and full of ?!. That's really the only way to describe it – sheer, unadulterated ?! ]

Wh … What the heck?! [ A breath, and then— ] Is everybody okay?! [ She scrambles shakily to her feet, reaching out towards those she's winded up with. ]

[He's looking shaken at first, but he pulls himself together quickly. Clamps down, puts up his walls.]

.....I'm all right.

[He touches her outstretched hand, but doesn't take it, getting up by himself.]

[The first thing he does after finding his center and checking on people is to test whether his powers work.

Time to see if ice will coalesce around his fingers or if he'll just look weirdly fixated on his hands.]

[ she wakes up with a start ]

I-I'm fine! I'm fine. What about you, Aoko-chan?

Thank goodness … [ There's a slight shake in her voice, a tiniest touch of nervousness that she's doing her very best to clamp down on. She only pulls her hand back when he's steady on her feet. ]

S, So … [ Takes a deep breath, bunching up her hands into fists ] We need to get out of here. [ Even as she speaks, she's looking around. ]

[ TIME TO COMBAT FEAR WITH ACTION. Or. Try to. TRY HARD, AOKO. ]

Aren't there usually escapes on the tops of these? I feel like I saw that in a movie once...

Hiyori-chan! I'm okay—I think … mm! I'm fine! [ Terrified, but unhurt aside from a couple of little bruises. She hurries forward to reach for Hiyori's hand, helping her up if she needs it. ]

[ Hiyori is looking up at the ceiling. Is there any sign of a built in emergency escape they could use to climb out of the elevator and into the shaft? ]

Escapes—

[ Good idea. Aoko immediately looks up, searching the ceiling and floor for anything that looks sufficiently hatch-like. ]

If there isn't, we could try the doors! Or maybe even the mirror?

[it's difficult to see in the darkness, but she can make out the faint outline of an escape hatch on the ceiling, yes. it is waaaaaay high up, though. totally out of reach]

[He steps over to inspect it.]

Admittedly, it is the idea I like the least. Last time I kicked a mirror in, it … [ She glances down at her legs, wry, though not exactly regretful. Huffs! ] So it's a last resort!

[ She'll poke around at the doors. ]

[AFTER watching the hatch monkey business play out]

I think it would be a better idea than trying to reach the hatch. Even if we could get out that way, we would have to climb up the suspension cables.

You don't think there'd be like... a ladder out there? Or something? For the servicemen?

[the door is a normal elevator door, made of metal and shut very, very tightly. there are hundreds of buttons to the right of the door, but all of the numbers and letters are smudged and impossible to read. it's probably wear and tear from years of use]

... Well, but that might be hard to find in the dark like this, anyway.

Alright! Let's bust down this door! Between your powers and mine, nothing can go wrong!

We'll try the most direct route first and go from there.

[He puts both hands to the doors and focuses on freezing them. Not completely, but enough to make them more brittle.]

[ Aoko's poking at the doors, too. ]

It's shut really, really tightly, Jaguar-san ... Give it your best shot! But we might need to be prepared to take the route up.
