Unfortunately, we can't even cover all of our basic necessities, so I'd rather we not spend too much on luxuries... I'd especially like us to avoid anything addictive, too.

It is, yes. There's also the question of taxes. If we don't pay them it'll be a problem, but we don't even know how much they are.

I agree. Still, let's see... The bare minimum to put down on Housing is 500, and Food is 450... That's 950 right there, so we actually only have 875 to distribute between everything...

Starvation is probably a big deal, it's true. We should try to have at least half of all the necessities, though. They're necessities for a reason, after all.

I think that would be wise. We might not be able to afford luxuries just now, but taking care of the bare necessities is more important anyway.
