Re: Nightshade
[ Excuse you -- she reaches a hand up to try and grab his chin with her cold fingers. Don't give her that look okay! ]
Tell me why you're uncomfortable. There must be a reason hidden in there, under all your clever words. I've been honest with you, now you must return the favor.
Re: Nightshade
Parties leave a bad taste in my mouth.
[Looking away and grabbing another bottle to drink since the first one's finished. There is going to be a lot of drinking here. Maybe if Roxy were here he wouldn't... But it's just him and he's always on his worst behavior when he's alone.]
It's not anything important. Anyway... I was wrong to act like that.
Re: Nightshade
I see. Well, the game will be over soon, and you can return home.
[ No one but myself can be trusted. Why would that change with a few sweet nothings? She's mentally chastising herself for expecting anything different, and for trusting him with her truths to begin with. Liars, all around. ]
Your advances would have gone better had I been alive to enjoy them.
[ Not for the first time she wishes she were alive. ]
Re: Nightshade
The room disappears to be replaced by a ballroom. It's very rich, expensive. There's food, wine, flowers. People. No one from Kyriakos. Beautiful, fashionable people who dance and laugh and are everything you'd expect of a grand party. It's all beautiful.
But even if everyone seems to be going about their own business there are signs. Flicks of eyes here and there, faces behind fans, candid smirks. They're watching Nightshade. Everyone is. Not like she's a person; but as if she's an object they wish to break or bend to their will. The malice in the air is practically palpable beneath the gavotte playing.
Zelos is next to her looking thoroughly miserable.]
Re: Nightshade
So this is why...?
[ she murmurs it to him, pensive -- and turns to look at him curiously instead of following her urge to make it so that these people have something real to stare at. He's sharing with her, and she appreciates it; she almost feels like she should ask him to stop for his own comfort, as his sad expression tugs a little at her cold, dead heart ]
Re: Nightshade
Yes. Though this is only half of it. Do you see her? [He nods towards a gorgeous blonde watching Nightshade invitingly from behind a fan. Delicate shades of green coat her long, elegant nails. She waves coquettishly and begins to walk towards them.] There's poison in her nail polish. There is --was-- a team of mercenaries outside on the balcony too. Funny thing was we used to drink together...
[Until he had to kill them oops. Camaraderie is a hard thing to come by.]
I don't like parties.
Re: Nightshade
I wish I could show you my memories like this... [ Hrm, but she does feel a little bad for him, or at least feels kinship with him. Being the only person you can trust in a crowd of people is difficult. Having to do it day after day is tiring. But she can't really understand why he would be sad to kill someone who's obviously out to get him, so she asks a different question. ]
Why? What do they gain from killing you?
