Congratulations, Kyriakos. You have arrived in supermarket hell. The inside of the supermarket looks exactly like what one would find in a 1950s supermarket: packed aisles full of bright advertisements and cans and boxes, along with fresh produce and fruits, snacks and candy, and even a counter for getting meat sliced for you. It looks like all of the people who work there are ghosts, and won’t be charging you for any of it: even the butcher will do the work for you. For some people on Ratatoskr, this supermarket may even look extremely familiar, down to the layout of the aisles and the nametags on the ghosts lining the registers.

Unfortunately for everyone, you are going to be there with all of the other teams, and there aren’t one hundred pounds of roast beef, so you may have to share some of the primary ingredients: produce, fruit, and meat especially.

You have no set recipe, so pick whatever you feel like!

[He's gonna grab a basket for himself, thinking about different kinds of fresh water fish...]

Well... they probably don't have ayu here. What's a freshwater fish that Americans eat...

Perch? Trout?

...I dun actually know the diff between those two.

Trout sounds more substantial?

Perch are smaller. They're like... lake fish.
Trout are usually in rivers and really, really big lakes.

Never really cooked with them, before... I know they had'em at restaurants, but that's it.
No idea if they even live near the States.

[thinking some more...]

... They might have mackerels? That sounds like something they'd have, anyway.

Let's take a look. Meat things seem to be over there. [Heading over to that part of the store.]

[Following after!! Unfortunately for Roxy, since it's 50s America, that means it's probably just... cod. And salmon.
Maybe shrimp and crabs, if they're in season.]

... Looks like a pretty sad selection.
thevoidsdarkhorse: (Well ain't that a sight)

[personal profile] thevoidsdarkhorse 2014-11-21 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
Is it?

[Pauses and poking the crabs.] This is...um.....crabs right?
killerfields: (pic#7973951)

[personal profile] killerfields 2014-11-21 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
It is. I mean, this is only, what... a fifth of their meat section?

... Those are crabs, yeah. Never had'em?
thevoidsdarkhorse: (Now let me think)

[personal profile] thevoidsdarkhorse 2014-11-21 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Huh, I guess it's...smaller than La Torre's place?

[Considers.] Probs not. How easy can ya get them from upper parts of deep sea?

Depends on the type of crab. Some you can just scoop out of a tidepool on the beach, but those are hardly edible.
Others, you gotta send a bunch of guys out on a boat and use cages or nets or whatever to catch'em.

I guess it's super dangerous or whatever. I don't know - I've only ever read about it.

[Picking up one of the packaged crabs, and giving it a good once over.]

... I guess these are okay, though. Looks like they were a little roughed up when they were packaged.

We could make something with crab, if you wanna try it.

Oooo, yeah, might have been harder for me to get.

I think Zelos made something with it once. Something with a shell, but it was pretty good.

Something with a shell.

[Thinking about that...??]

-- Do you mean it was breaded?
thevoidsdarkhorse: (Now let me think)

[personal profile] thevoidsdarkhorse 2014-11-21 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
No, no, it was a meat thing with a shell. The red shell. It was paella!

[Closing her eyes, thinking.] It was like....cross between a shrimp and crab?
killerfields: (pic#7973913)

[personal profile] killerfields 2014-11-21 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
... Lobster?

That does sound like something fancy that Zelos would know how to cook with.

Maybe? [Nah, it was some sort of crawfish.]

He did have some surprising recipes.
