Welcome to Jambudvipa!

Well, specifically, Gangaridai, a jungle region in the easternmost part of the subcontinent of Jambudvipa, which is currently under the rule of the semi-native Gurkhani Empire. It's a ~*strange and mystical land*~...well, at least to all of you.

You, the DIPLOMATS, are here from The United Empire, in order to convince the Gurkhani Empire that you are MOST CERTAINLY NOT A THREAT, BUT GREAT AND AMAZING FRIENDS! You're here, of course, for the benefit of both of your nations, so that you may grow and prosper together as allies. Duh.

...Of course, maybe it might just be better to get on the good side of some of the people and local rulers here who are not so friendly towards the ruling Gurkhani class.

The trials that await you and how you handle them will determine the fate of the region, and perhaps the entire nation, in the years to come...

The rules of this game are simple! You will be presented with a series of scenarios, and the goal is to accomplish them in such a way that it furthers your group's goal, to the best of your ability! In order to aid you in this, you have a SPECIAL ABILITY that you can use once during the game!

Landfall!

You are, of course, not the first foreigners to arrive on these shores. The United Empire has sent several ships and advance parties already, but the Gurkhani have been less than accepting of them. This time, however, it'll be different.

You've already commandeered an old base camp at the edge of the jungle, and the ship you came on has a wide array of carpentry, mining (including a few sticks of dynamite!), and construction tools, but very little supplies. There's a quarry not too far away, even.

You need to set to work improving the camp to defend it in case you are attacked. Currently, a few natives from a nearby village are watching you and your crew as you prepare.

[ FOR THINGS THAT YOU ARE DOING THAT ARE NOT YOUR FINAL SOLUTION ]

... Can't we just wave around our advanced technology, then?

[what's going on. who are you. where is this. how do you pronounce those names.

Whether it's advanced or not, we still have to decide where to wave it, and how.

We're just supposed to be getting good with the guys in charge, right? Presumably for a rebellion later, but that can wait. But we likely can't just barge in, so we've got to impress the natives, first.

Ginger, by the way.

And we need to set up defenses on the camp first, apparently. Without pissing anyone off. This should be fun. [Not.]

Let's see... First we need to check our resources. What's the quarry like? How many people do we have to work? What kind of labor can we get done?

Can we even access the quarry safely? Or would the natives object if we try?

We'll start with that, then.

Since I'm just here as helper, do you want to turn it in all official-like?

It doesn't matter much to me...I'll do it.

[~~>Check inventory~~ Okay, let's go with Ginger's idea and assess the resources and labor available to us! How many workers do we have, what's the quarry like, and would the natives object to our use of the quarry in the first place?]

You have a work crew of fifty. They should be able to build any small-scale constructions you need, such as small workshops and basic walls and fortifications.

The quarry primarily supplies stone, though iron ore has also been found in it, as well. It seems to be under control of the natives, and they would likely object to you attempting to use it for yourself.

[And having done that:]

Hrm. Typical. The one thing we need and we can't get to it without sabotaging ourselves.

So, let's do a trade. We've got dynamite, right? Show the villagers how amazing we are, trade them the secrets of how to make dynamite for access to the quarry. That should help our reputation, too.

Or just scare them off. [But she doesn't sound convinced of that.] I suppose it's worth a try.

Warn them first, so they know what to expect.

[We'll approach the natives and attempt to strike a trade: use of the quarry in exchange for some of our dynamite and information on how to make it for themselves. And just hope that they're impressed enough to take us up on the deal.]

[ They are, in fact, and accept. ]

Of course it did.

Now that we have use of the quarry, let's have our workers build some walls. We shouldn't make them look like fortifications, since we want to get in their good graces, so let's just make it a normal shelter for now.
