But only if there were no other way and the alternatives were just as bad. No victory is worth the pain of putting my friends through that, if it could be avoided. I'd rather not win at all if that were the case. But to protect them ... I would give anything.
Likewise extreme cases. To me, a victory-- not only victory, but living itself, is worth it if you can personally live with yourself and the choices you made to get where you are. And sometimes ... the lines can be thin, between what you will and won't do. But more than anything, to the very end, even if it means giving up a victory, I'll stick to my beliefs to do everything I can to keep myself and the people I love safe without betraying those things. Physically ... and emotionally.

Not that I'll give up victory so easily, of course. I'll always do my best for their sakes. But to me, there are things, a lot of things, more important to me than winning.
