DAWON

You step into a small airy room made entirely of porcelain and frosted glass. Squishy armchairs — the old fashioned type; pretty velvet affairs with patterns of roses in your team’s color and legs of dark wood — line the walls.

Pride of place in the center of the room is a table, upon which rests: a list of instructions; a spread of cards; and a box made out of mirrored glass with eleven slits in the top. Each slit is outlined in a team color.

Beyond the table is a huge, floor to ceiling hourglass. A certain number of blood red crystals reside at the bottom ...

... taking away someone's ability to recognize people close to them sound equally vicious to me. But you're right that it's not clear who's carrying out the penalty. We'll have to find that out.

She told me it was the inability to recognize faces, not everything about a person. I'm assuming they could still recognize voices. If I could decide which I wanted to happen to me, I wouldn't choose unconsciousness, especially if I didn't know the means by which it would be carried out.

... the not knowing who will do it worries me more than anything. We'll try this until we know how these things actually play out.
