DAWON

You step into a simple, comfortable room with plenty of squishy armchairs to sit in. On a table nearby is a basket, containing: a small, plush doll version of the team member wearing the tiara, complete with its own tiara (and a rather fabulous dress); 5 plush toy cats in your team’s color; and 10 tea cup traps.

Most of the floor is taken up by a large grid.

Any items you manage to retrieve from your opponents will be in Ratatoskr's color!

Really? I find that a little strange... but at least you get to experience them like this.

You're certainly not the first to say that.

[a nod, though]

I've learned about a great variety of things since I arrived in this place. Being exposed to knowledge from so many different worlds is one of the best things about it.

I'm glad to hear it's not all bad.

It isn't a perfect place by any means, but you can find a great deal to admire about it even so.

Well... so far, so good. Apart from the memory loss.

Hopefully we'll win this game so you'll have more than one memory.

A memory where I'm not eight, even. That would be great.

That as well, of course. I imagine that would be rather frustrating to start out with.

It wasn't a bad memory, but there's definitely some weird dissonance when that's all I remember.

I hope you get a nice one that takes place at your current age, then.

That's the ideal. But now you made me curious. What did you remember first?

Ah, that was quite a while ago! Let me see if I can remember...

[thinking]

I believe it was visiting my chambermaid in the infirmary while she was ill. Someone made her a pillow out of a cloud.

A cloud... that's amazing!

It was. I can show it to you after the game if you like.

Absolutely. That's the kind of thing I want to see.

I'll hope you enjoy it, then.

Ah, speaking of memories... Have you been informed as to how they work here?

We win a shard that we have to put into our mirrors, right? It seems pretty outlandish... but everything else has been so far too. I'm half convinced I'm dreaming.

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2015-05-03 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. But when we receive them, it's in a pile, and we don't have a way to know which is ours until we put them in our mirrors. As a result, sometimes we see things that other members would have rather kept private... It's something you should be prepared for, if we do win.

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] loveinvein 2015-05-03 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
That's problematic. How does everyone usually deal with that sort of thing?

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2015-05-03 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, we have no way to prevent it from happening. Most of the time at least one person will see your memory before you.

[ Well. Shit. Mika already knows that he at least has a history of abuse, so this is NOT IDEAL. ]

... then we just prepare for the worst?

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2015-05-03 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, for the most part. Sometimes it can be nice to see, so we can support those who remember something painful, but... That's the only silver lining I can find.

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] loveinvein 2015-05-03 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
... I don't really like it. But if that's what we have to work with, then that's that.

Re: DISCUSSION

I don't think many of us do, but it's something we have to deal with. I'm sorry.

Don't apologize. It can't be helped.
