Years ago, you recieved a charter from the United Empire, and were officially made a member of the newly christened Trade Company! Your goal was to seek fortune wherever it may be found in this strange land...of course, through force of arms, if the natives failed to cooperate.

But now things are different. You no longer work for the Empire, but for your homeland of Teutonia -- and to a lesser extent, the people you've come to associate here in Jambudvipa. With the magitech and bioengeering facilities placed at Landfall, you are prepared to claim this region for the fatherland.

What are you here for? To find a way to harness the power of these spirits for the good of all mankind. The march of progress cannot be stopped, not even by the supernatural.

Landfall! That's what you all said years ago, when you first arrived here. The once small tradepost on the coast of Jambudvipa is now a bustling port town...appropriately called Landfall. The heroes responsible for the success of this important outpost of Western culture are symbolized by a statue of a pink tiger, ridden by a young lady that could only be described as a princess, both roaring fiercly into the sky.

There are cargo ships currently docked at the piers, and the dock workers are busy hauling crates all around. The townspeople pay you no mind, ducking in and out of the shops and guilds and homes.

To the WEST is the QUARRY.
To the EAST is some jungle.

[Hm... First thing's first, let's look over what resources we own at Landfall. If we've been here a while, we should have... something, right?]

That would probably be a good idea, though I'm still interested in finding out as much as I can about our actual resources here. Both of the terms are pretty vague, after all.

The whole thing is a little vague, honestly. But then again, this isn't exactly my strong suit.

That's true. Our "goals" such as they are, amount to "claim this land and advance science". Or to be more precise, "find a way to advance science in such a way as to control spirits". Speaking realistically, our best bet for that would be the Magitech facilities. That should be able to give us some sort of a clue, at least.

Speaking realistically, that's entirely impossible. [a quirk of a grin, cuz it's a joke]

But that sounds like it would at least give us a starting point. The claim this land part, though . . . I'm not sure I like what that may imply.

There are a lot of ways to claim a territory. For instance, we have a jungle nearby, and it's likely there are some jungle diseases that we might be able to use the bioengineering facilities to produce vaccines and counters for. Making use of that, we'll be able to control territory that's harder for people to live in, while at the same time making it so the locals are dependent on us.

In other words, then, make it mutually beneficial. [he nods] I'd prefer that over more . . . historical methods.

That goes without saying. Our actions will affect other teams, so we have to assume that whatever we do is going to have an effect on other teams. With that in mind, control via relatively peaceful methods is preferable.

I'm going to check out the Magitech facility. Do you mind checking the Bioengineering facility? We don't know how advanced it is, but you're still someone who's studied genetics, after all.

The quarry is supplied with the latest explosives, and staffed by no one younger than the age of 16! The workers wear green shirts and have a dog's paw stamped upon their helmet, supposedly in remembrance of the dark times when children were forced to work here and of the brave souls who stopped such horrible practices.

...It's pretty deep and even the paths down are incredibly steep. This is probably not a safe place for anyone to work, really. Don't fall in!

There are several magitek and bioform scientists milling about, making notes on their experiments and...some of them are arguing about which field is superior. They all have very valid points, really!
