Panther's heart
PRE-WRITE UP:
- I HOPE ALL OF YOU LIKE DYING…which is to say that any/all revivals that happen within the game will be instantaneous and the finishing blow that finally kills the person will remain on them as a scar for the rest of the game.
- There are no ways to go “back”; there is no “back” to go to.
- There’s no intermingling in the game aside from the starting area. This is not an excuse to party it up in the starting area...
- Powers and whatever not are off per usual, sorry.
- If you’re confused about anything, ping me on plurk or #murderpillow!

she'd be running if she could, or even at least hobbling faster; instead, she keeps on at the same, horribly slow pace as before because she can't manage any more. suddenly the loss of a foot or a hand seems like it might have been a better deal. maybe if she just tries to focus on what's straight in front of her and not what's to either side she'll be okay
she wants to get out of here, though, in case whoever it is that's been collecting parts decides they'd like some more. ]

He doesn't look in too good of shape either. Big guy too. Kind of gruff...you know, if he wasn't half-dead. Now which does she want to go do? ]

once by him, she stoops down to his side with a groan (does she recognize him?) ]
Hey! Hey, wake up.
[ THIS IS NOT THE TIME OR THE PLACE TO BE SLEEPING, DUDE.
she will shake him, albeit not very well: her strength is definitely not what it used to be. ]
no subject
He'll groan and open an eye to look at her. ]
Who... Who are you?

...
too late now. ]

My name's Hiyori. Can you walk? We need to get out of here.
[ wherever here is ]
no subject
What is a girl like you doing here? [ Despite his harsh expression and voice, he's immediately concerned about her. ] You shouldn't be in this place.
no subject
THAT DOESN'T REMIND HER OF ANYONE AT ALL, no
...
panther is this your inner spirit beast? ]
I'm looking for my friend. A really bad person took him away, and it's up to me to save him.
[ straight for the jugular. ]
no subject
A really bad person? [ That'll make him laugh despite his condition. ]
If you're looking for a bad person then you'll find plenty here. I'm not sure who you're trying to save but no one in here is worth saving.

[ Though, he won't deny he isn't worth saving. ]

...
He's an important person to me. You see, he helped me even when things were really bad for him and he wasn't in a good position to do so. I told him if anything ever happened to him I'd do whatever I could to help him.
no subject
You won't find a person like that here. The only other people in this room aren't worth someone like you troubling themselves. They're pirates; the worse kind of people.
[ Never mind that she got the feeling of distrust towards him, a marine, right? Or...maybe there's a reason for that now. ]

[ because even if panther isn't a pirate... ]
...
I know a lady where I come from who's a pirate. But she went out of her way to treat people with kindness because she wanted to prove that people weren't always horrible. Maybe, because it's your job to always have them at the other end of your sword, all you see is ugliness and anger, but... that's kind of like asking a cat if a dog is good or not.

I don't know who this "Panther" is but if he's that brat over there— [ Gesturing ahoy towards two very familiar people standing in front of something and apparently discussing something. ] then he's a rotten pirate as any of them.
You can't ever trust a pirate to be true to their word because in the end they'll only looking out for themselves.
Tell me what do you think is worse than stealing?
no subject
Kidnapping someone. Hurting people for fun. Killing people.
no subject
This guy has never kidnapped anyone but I can assure you that he's killed people. Who knows about the fun part but he didn't seem too bothered.
[ What will you do with this information now? ]

she looks distinctly uncomfortable as she says this, and she chooses her words slowly and carefully. however, as she continue, they come more forceful and certain. ]
I... know ... several someone elses who weren't too bothered by who they killed. One of them because she knew she had to, or else the people she killed would come to worse ends and bring many others along with them. So... sometimes... good people do bad things for good reasons. I... don't... I don't agree with it, because... I think we should look for other answers first, always, to our problems, no matter how serious.

Like I believe in Panther.
The things that he did before--they're not who he is now. They're not who he has the opportunity to be. And I believe in him, and the choices he'll make, the future he'll create for himself, because I know that deep down, he's a wonderful person. He can make things right!
no subject
Do you think a brat like him could change? He's killed more people than he's ever had to and even used some of their deaths to get ahead.
[ He'll look at her dead in the eyes watching to see how she reacts to this. So far she has been so steadfast in her words. ]
Just because he's saying that now, how can you be sure that he isn't going to take it all back? There are no such thing as heroes among pirates.
no subject
Why not? Why can't there be a hero among pirates? Because you've never seen one? I can't see the air, but I know it exists. I've never seen a three legged dog, but I know it's possible they could exist. Maybe even probable!
I believe in Panther. Maybe he'll be the first pirate-hero. Or maybe he'll stop being a pirate! It's never too late for a person to change. Even if he lived for a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand years more--he could still change. He's a brave person that is willing to wager his own life to live the way he wants. As long as that's what's in his heart, if it's what he wants, I know that he has the potential to achieve it, because I know how far he'll go to get it!
no subject
[ That such... He doesn't understand her. He isn't going to argue with her, he isn't that kind of guy, but he doesn't understand how she can be so steadfast. ]
What has this guy done for you to make you believe in him like this? Every pirate I've known has time and time again proven to me that they're nothing but selfish liars.

[ she pulls on a cord around her neck, and out from underneath her filthy uniform slides a necklace. the green stone within the silver trappings is simple if odd, apparently carved with ancient runes, the meaning of which is anyone's guess. in spite of her bedraggled appearance, the necklace, at least, looks unharmed. ]
This is my focus. I don't have to use it anymore, but I wear it everyday because it still means a lot to me. It was something that kept me safe when I couldn't, but it only worked when it was in contact with me. So it was really important to me that I have it made into a necklace, or something I could wear and have on me at all times.
Panther did that for me.
Only, he was supposed to get something in return for it--I was supposed to take a quest that would earn him a shard of his memory back. But he didn't want Nyssa--the witch who's done all this to him--to get the energy that comes from completing a quest. So he sacrificed a precious part of himself for me, and he wouldn't have asked for anything in return, but I insisted.
I can't say that his thinking is never selfish or skewed. We all make mistakes. But his heart is in the right place. And this is my proof.
