... but in what would appear to be a thick, lush forest. Around you as far as you can see are massive trees with canopies that blot out the sky. The hum of bugs fills the air. It's hot, or at least considerably warmer than it was on top of the mountain, but not oppressively humid, at least.
Looking to your left, you can see the forest begins to clear out. Looking to your right, you can see that the forest appears as dark and thick as where you are now. It is also possible that you can choose a member of your party to climb a tree to check to see which way you should go. Or maybe you could check out your perimeter on foot?
Climb a tree. Choose the left path. Choose the right path. Check out the immediate area on foot.
[ being here in this forest does seem to make him a bit more tense and on guard, in his posture-- more so than usual-- but his face doesn't seem too far from normal as he looks around, trying to assess the game at hand; so he's going to start with a bit of exploration first until someone might join from the team ]
You've found a bunch of large sticks (perfect for walking) and stones and some mulch (dried dead leaves and moss), but not much else. There's nothing particularly special about them, but you could choose to take them with you. What will you do?
The path is dark as you go along, with only the rare shaft of light making it through the dense canopy over head, and it's possible that you may find it difficult to keep your footing: thick tree roots and rocks impede the way, making it difficult to proceed.
Deep into your travels, there is a soft rustling sound in the thick bushes to your left, followed by a snapping sound.
Investigate the sounds in the bushes. Ignore the sounds and continue forward.
As you go along, the trees become less dense, giving way to smaller, thinner trees and much less underbrush. Sunshine filters in from overhead, revealing jewels of blue sky lighting the thin leaves. The ground beneath your feet is takes on gentle slopes but seems no less covered in leaves.
Eventually the ground becomes more loamy, but you hear the river and see the frogs darting between tree roots before you see it. Approaching it, you will find the water cool, crisp, and clean.
Cross the river. Following the river North. Follow the river South.
Looking into the deep pool, water is clear and at some points, particularly in the middle, very, very deep. However, there is also a shallow edge such that you can wade in up to your shins and enjoy the cool water, if you want.
Go in the water. Go check out the waterfall. Go back to Cross the river. Go back to Follow the river South.
All around the rock formations of the waterfall a fragrant, bright pink orchid grows. Because of the water spray, these seem to be protected from any kind of stinging insect, so you're free to collect some to add to your inventory. Something tells you you should pick some.
This close to the waterfall, you notice a series of large rocks--boulders, really--mostly submerged in the water. The tops of them are not quite even, but mostly flat, and also large enough that they could serve as stepping stones through the waterfall. You can't quite tell from here, but there might be something worth seeing on the other side?
Cross the stone path. It's too dangerous. Return to the pool.
