TAKSHAKA

[you’re ushered into doors that appear in the roots of Otto’s trees. The room is similar to last time - small, but with enough chairs for your entire team to sit down, and a table at the center. There's also a few, small beds, should anyone feel sick enough that they have to lay down.

On the table is another cardboard box, similar to last time as well. Only this time when you peer in, there’s a myriad of different herbs and other things. Otto’s voice echoes into the room with his usual, bored tone]

Last time, you cared for a friend of mine. This time, you’ll care for you and yours.

We can only ask about the purposes of three? But... there's so many.

[ the odds of getting this right feel so low. also she feels like junk. sweaty, feverish junk. ugh.

she's trying to think though ]

Oranges have... vitamin C. That's supposed to be good for colds. Uhm... Feverfew... it might.... because of the name... But... the only thing that sounds really... scientific... is the oxide? But I don't know what it actually does.

[ so much for being a doctor's daughter being a leg up. oops. ]

Garlic is supposed to be good for you, right? Or is it just that they're bad for vampires...

[ she's a little worried that the ingredients might be too common, but... anything's worth a shot, right? ]

Okay. Why don't we try oranges for sure this time, and maybe... the feverfew...? It's just a hunch, but... if we have more rounds coming up, some of the wrong ingredients might be eliminated for us.

[ it never occurs to her, though, that there could be a completely whole new set. ]

And we can still choose two more combinations, so... we might as well try as not.

[ after some discussion, the girls settle on the following: ]

1: garlic, oranges, feverfew
2: mayweed, elderberry, and fennel
3: magnesium oxide, red sap, and echinacea

[ Oh god. This wasn't what she was expecting. ]

Uh.... not ginseng. That's... for memory, isn't it? Sick people need lots of water. Apples... also... probably have benefits. And olive oil too? .... Soap is... only useful for helping to prevent sickness, right?

Maybe they expect us to apply the medicine to our skin? ... I'm pretty sure if you ate that, though, you'd get really sick.

All of the other things are edible. Or even necessary. I'd guess without a proper liquid, this would all be just... paste. So I guess... we want stuff to help break things down and thin it out.

Apple juice might be healthier, but it's probably just a lot of sugar. And... olive oil... is mostly used for cooking, isn't it?

[ that's what her recipe books would certainly suggest anyway ]

W-well... to be honest, I'm in the dark here, too, mostly. It's just helpful to just talk stuff out, isn't it? And... I figure... it never hurts to try. Even if we don't win, we might learn something, and if we do get it right, we'll be helping people. Either way, that's... a good thing, right?

Well... if it's okay with you, I'll... just try adding some water, because ...

Riley, are you okay?
