TAKSHAKA

[you’re ushered into doors that appear in the roots of Otto’s trees. The room is similar to last time - small, but with enough chairs for your entire team to sit down, and a table at the center. There's also a few, small beds, should anyone feel sick enough that they have to lay down.

On the table is another cardboard box, similar to last time as well. Only this time when you peer in, there’s a myriad of different herbs and other things. Otto’s voice echoes into the room with his usual, bored tone]

Last time, you cared for a friend of mine. This time, you’ll care for you and yours.

Well... garlic is really hard. It'd be difficult to crush.

[ and we definitely should have used our questions in the first round. darn ]

Depends on how you get it. But I don't think we can't do it anyway.

That's true. If it was already chopped, then it would be easy to mix. But I think we must be getting a whole head, or at least whole cloves, since it never mentioned it being minced or a paste.

We could try grinding it out with a mortar and pestle, though. Have you ever used one before?

No, I don't think I've ever even seen one in person before.

Me neither. I know that herbalists use them....

...

I'm pretty strong, usually. If our powers haven't been taken away from us, then I could probably use the mortar and pestle to grind the stuff up, no problem. Maybe we should ask him before we make our choice?

I'm really not sure.

[ especially with as weak as this illness is making her feel, she's... not sure she actually has the strength to use a mortar and a pestle. but she feels like that would be a cop-out to say. ]

Let's find out.

after discussing with otto

[personal profile] withmyownfists 2015-10-11 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
It seems like it probably doesn't matter between the mortar and the pestle. We don't have to run or use the equipment.

...

I think that the blender and the mortar and pestle will make more or less the same results, but I can't imagine a doctor using a blender. So... let's choose the mortar and pestle. Shall we?

[ ah ]

To be honest, I really don't remember much of anything about it. Just... that I wanted to be one, too.

...

I'm not even sure if we... actually really talked all that much about what a doctor does, day-to-day.

If you asked me, though... I think... where I come from, doctors usually make the diagnoses or perform procedures and prescribe medicines, but... I think actually making the medicine might fall to someone else, since... doctor's offices and pharmacies are different places.

Excuse me, Otto?

[ she coughs into the crook of her arm ]

I'd like to ask some questions. Like... how difficult is it to use a mortar and pestle, and... did you take away our abilities or not?

I did not remove any abilities. However, you needn't worry about actually using any of the devices.

Are there any kinds of materials not appropriate for a mortar and pestle? --Is it okay to use water in it?

Okay.

[ after consulting with Riley ]

We choose the mortar and pestle, then.
