Opal seemed cranky, but I thought that's how she was. Ochre... he seemed a bit too aggressive, but... again, I thought that's how he was.

... clearly I don't actually know anyone.

[And she's a terrible detective, but that's... not the point. But it is.]

I didn't notice it, either. No one did. That isn't a sign of a personal failing, Lapis.

[She just stares at nothing for a moment, trying to pull her own thoughts and emotions in. It's... not really working.]

I can be useful. I might not be now, but I can be.

Yes, I feel like dead weight. Everyone has something and I have... very little. A Persona which is about 95% useless, detective skills that I never get the chance to use, and some memories that don't actually connect to each other.

But I can find something to do. I know I can.

[The shadow flickers]

Sit around and wait for your team to do all the work for you?

[She takes a breath, gaining strength from somewhere, and something somewhat snaps in her. She takes a couple steps toward the Shadow, glaring at it.]

And right now, what I can do is tell you that you're a distracting asshole. We're here for Ochre, not my own damn insecurities.

[It flickers again, stronger this time]

All you'll do is fail him again, like you did before, and like you'll do every time.

[And now there's an angry flash in her eyes.]

[It flickers- and vanishes.

[She takes a breath, hands balling into fists, and shaking a bit as she approaches where the shadow was.]
