Oh, I can tell you lots about that. Though, physically, we're not all that different except for the ears, as you can see. And humans tend to be bulkier, but not always. We used to live much longer than humans, but we lost that when the Elvhen kingdom fell.
It's said that we have a stronger tendency towards magic than humans do, and we can see in the dark quite well. But the most important difference is our history. Elves were once the ruling class in all of Thedas, but when our kingdom fell to the Tevinter Imperium over eight thousand years ago, our people were reduced to slaves and petty thieves. Some of us have reclaimed our heritage--those are my people, the Dalish--but we will never obtain all that was lost to us. The elves that are born and raised in the cities know nothing of the long history and culture of our people, and some of them don't even care. I... cannot blame them, sometimes, knowing what living in poverty is like now. Knowing your history doesn't feed your children or keep the Templars from hurting you for fun. Some elves live well--I've heard there's an elven woman in Orlais who's mistress to the Queen, but she's a rarity. Still, I am proud of my culture and my people, and I hope one day we will sit on thrones once more.
Or at least some comfortable chairs. With little frilly cushions, maybe.
