[You find yourself in one of Nyssa's quaint cottages - it's very comfortable, warm. There's water, tea, and a dining table with paper and pencils strewn across it.]
[ "comfortable" my ass. sorry, but he's on edge because this does bring back memories for him. but... at least Rook is here, he reminds himself to stay calm. ]
Neither do I. And I don't know if everybody else would be...
A long time ago, before she became a patron, Rotten ran a bad game with the same rule: protect one team from getting mangled. People were allowed to send one message out for others to see, and only one. The messages varied, some saying a team was set to do something and weren't backing down, but a couple of them said ... "protect the team ahead of yours alphabetically, so everybody gets protected."
Somehow ... despite everything, everybody followed it, and nobody died. Every team won, which caused Rotten to almost use up all of her energy to give everybody memories. Since then, sometimes during meetings the teams have had in the past to discuss games like that and more, it's been somewhat of a word of mouth strategy if we're in a situation like that.
... but it's also been a while since we've had any teamswide meetings like that, and a lot of people have gone to sleep since then. So I don't know how many people still here would think to go to that.
And it doesn't seem like we can pass on any message to any other team... There's been a lot of changes in teams, so I doubt others would think about that...
We can't, but that was also why we discussed the possibility outside of a game. Because we figured things would always be different in some way, and I'm sure the other Echoes learned from Rotten's oversight.
But some people I saw before the game-- like Nightingale, Star, they were here back then. [Rubbing at his chin.]
Would either of you be opposed to trying that? It's a gamble, but ... pretty much everything is, and doing nothing seems like a waste in either case. If something goes wrong, I'll take responsibility for it.
[Cascade my bae. ;; That gets him to smile a little.]
That sounds like something that I would say, too. I just suggested it since Barghest is the team after ours alphabetically. So it's not exactly aligned with our usual priorities, but ... I'd like to think even if there's a chance enough people do the same to at least cover a vast majority of us...
We still don't know what we're protecting each other from. Let's hope it's not as bad as Rotten's game that time. [Because she wanted guro art refs..........]
[It's true she might just be looking for some more power. But those shadows being there... :l]
And we will. If it ends up being those dogs of hers, like she did with the Cats that time, let's hope she sends us mine if we don't get protection. I wouldn't lose to a cheap copy of myself even if it was just as strong.
[ it could be like the tiara game... maybe bad games take more out of her and she needs some reserves from a non-trauma game. but he'll leave that unsaid, as they've been through shit together so they both know the shit she pulls ]
Neither of us will. I'll do what it takes to protect what we can.
[Well like he's explaining in more detail to Cascade:]
Not playing at all means one team goes without, so while that's an option, I think in this case it's a stupid one. That said ... in the past we've had the single protection rule in play before, and once in the past, everybody survived because they protected the team ahead of them alphabetically. We've talked about doing it if it ever happened again, but...
Yeah. I wonder what-- happened in the last round. If anybody got hurt...
[Gritting his teeth a bit. And quickly does the math in his head.]
Assuming other teams have the same, twenty seven people, thirty six means of protection. But the individual aspect of it ruins the potential of hoping for any kind of strategy to ensure covering everybody.
So spreading and hoping for the best is probably the best choice to make. But then that leaves the question of ... who...
I was thinking that. I ... was going to suggest who you're probably going to choose, either way as one of them, if we were going to discuss it. But we can all take one choice to do as we will with.
[Those are two of our many alliances, so it's cool.]
Nightingale will most likely be covered by Henwen. And Cascade is going to pick Sakura. Star is someone else we want to look out for when we can, but someone from her world is also playing so I'm sure he'll cover her.
We have alliances for a reason, so to narrow things down a little based on people here who are on those teams... [Muttering to himself.] ... Opal is here, so she'll probably make sure Nightingale is safe if they're choosing. Coyote is here and he's from Star's world, if he and Tama do what we're doing, he'll choose her for sure, so Viva wouldn't have to worry if she was here.

Re: DISCUSSION
Let's hope it was like that one game with the tea that she hosted before. Sometimes she doesn't always host awful games.
Either way, we'll get through it together, no matter the results.
[ Rotten, can you not........ ]
Re: DISCUSSION
I sure hope she's goin' easy on us...

You don't need to thank me. I appreciate that you're always willing to listen and offer suggestions.

Re: DISCUSSION
...Yeah. I have to.
Re: DISCUSSION
I'll pick Heels, then, since Nightingale should be okay with Opal here.

[Since. Sabre's probably covered by someone in Takshaka. And he doesn't know Lilac as well and. He doesn't really. Know anyone else. l o l . . .]
