AMALTHEA

[ You find yourself in a section of the maze walled off by hedges sporting glowing teal flowers. Several tree stumps with rich velvet cushions on them surround a much larger stump, upon which lie a number of cards... ]

[sitting as still as possible to avoid jostling organs]

[eyeing Technic on the ground...]

...Very well. I leave it to you, then.

[nods once, awkwardly]

Swoop chose the Magician which resulted in him experiencing pain, and Technic's result led to him choking...

[frowns]

I can't fathom the connections between either. The choice may as well be random.

From our perspective, at any rate. No doubt there is some internal logic or symbolism that the Echo is chortling to itself over as we speak.

I'm almost tempted to take Death or the Tower simply to see how literal he intends to be with either, or if he decided it would be hilarious to put the most tolerable effect with the worst cards.

I would not be surprised, considering the perversity of his earlier speech. But there is no way to be certain.

Playing it safe doesn't seem to be worth it at this point, so I may as well play for curiosity.

[oh well. YOLO.]

Hohoho, most true. I cannot say that I would choose that way myself, but as you are the one selecting a card this round, i will say nothing against whatever logic you choose.

If nothing else, I can safely assume he'll be painfully literal about it and anticipate it.

[and with that...choosing the Tower because flames are probably better than Death.]

There is that too.

At this point it's startin' to look like some messed up roulette.

I'll likely choose something obviously terrible to see if the 'trick' is that only the tolerable effects are behind those...But you're likely right in that it's all a matter of choosing pain at random.
