[You are ushered out of the parlor and into a cozy sitting room. The storm continues to rage outside, but a roaring fire keeps the room nice and toasty.

As you enter, you find your clothes have changed to something vaguely 1940s Noir-ish and appropriate to your character. You all look very dapper, though you may be surprised to suddenly find yourself cross-dressing. At the same time, knowledge suddenly enters your mind- the role you will be playing in tonight's performance, information on some of your fellow guests, and the rules of the game, as well as the setup for the story.]

It would, yes. I believe the last time we met, you were far too young to remember me.

[folds an arm in front of himself and bows]

My name is Mr. Inalie. I'm an old friend of your father's-- though we haven't spoken in 30 years. A terrible falling out, you see.

A falling out? It must be, I don't believe father's mentioned you before.

[looks a bit sheepish]

Aaah, that doesn't surprise me, considering the nature of our falling out. . . but I suppose I shouldn't dredge up old arguments when he was kind enough to invite me here tonight. Perhaps it's time for us to let bygones be bygones.

Really? I must say, I'm curious.

It could be. Father has been getting on in age, and thirty years is quite some time.

[flaps a hand at her]

It's neither here nor there, honestly. I'd rather focus on the prospect of amending our relationship.

[So vague.]

Ah, fair, fair. Sadly father is occupied with something until morning.

Aaah, so it seems. Finishing up a late night project, I assume. Back in our school days, he was always a hard worker.

Oh, most likely. It must be something spectacular though. He didn't even tell me what it was.

So you went to school with him?

That's right. Back in the old days-- aaah, how simple life was back then.

What was it like? Dad never told me much.

Filled with equal parts hard work and goofing off, of course. Your father is an intelligent man, but he also knows how to have a good time.

[Laughs.] Sometimes, but it always felt like a struggle to get him to do so.

Ah. . . he must have changed greatly in the thirty years I haven't seen him. I suppose he let his work get the best of him?

Sadly, but hopefully I can convince him to retire soon. He'd deserve the break.
