[You are ushered out of the parlor and into a cozy sitting room. The storm continues to rage outside, but a roaring fire keeps the room nice and toasty.

As you enter, you find your clothes have changed to something vaguely 1940s Noir-ish and appropriate to your character. You all look very dapper, though you may be surprised to suddenly find yourself cross-dressing. At the same time, knowledge suddenly enters your mind- the role you will be playing in tonight's performance, information on some of your fellow guests, and the rules of the game, as well as the setup for the story.]

NOTE: In this group, the parts of Kira Graves and Tod Mises are unclaimed. ICly, Kira will have been unable to attend due to both of her children being ill. Tod simply refused the invitation because he thinks his dad is a jerk.

[Photographs of his family, especially his children when they were young. Actually, there don't appear to be ANY recent pictures of them. Surprisingly, his wedding photos with both Dee and Layne are up there, right next to each other, in matching gold frames.]

[Other than the fact that it's so dry and dense that it makes you want to fall asleep, nope.]

Did my father only try to contact you recently?

He's tried to contact me before, but I've never responded. The letter I received inviting me here was the first communication between us in years.

Has it been a while since you've spoken to him?

Was there any start about ten years ago?

[She paused and looked at the photos, frowning.]

No, actually. My father and I are fairly close. He's been training me to take over for him. I'm probably one of the people closest to him.

[Looking over the pictures. Are any of them within the last ten years?]

No. . . I'd say they started long before then. And there were only a few.

Is there something significant about ten years ago?

[idk man the pictures say young so I assume NOT RECENT]

He's only collected the news articles from the last ten years.

[They appear to be mostly dry business reports, information on stocks and budgets, lots of snooze-inducing numbers. There's also a number of newspaper clippings scattered about- they all appear to be articles about Phil's various philanthropic activities over the years.]

[Why does he have his newspaper clippings around? Is there any pattern to the articles besides it being his philanthropic activities?]

[Nothing about the articles themselves that especially stands out, but you notice that the vast majority of them are dated within the last ten years, although you know very well that he's been a charitable man all his life.

Numbers say: His company is doing very well lately, but his charity donations have been taking bigger and bigger chunks out of personal profits.]

[Different charities, all very good causes. Lots of things to do with orphanages or neglected children, and animals.

The drawers seem normal, full of stuff...are you looking for anything in particular?]

[Anything weird. Maybe the will. Maybe a weapon. Maybe anything that looks like it comes from the last ten years in some significant way.]

[No weapon, and nothing that looks like a will. More folders of newspaper clippings and old photographs...a lot of old photographs, actually. Candid snapshots of his family, for the most part.

...huh. The bottom drawer seems oddly heavy.]

[Well, I'm all for snooping. Pulling everything out, checking the dates of the newspaper clippings to see if they're from the last ten years or before that, and setting aside the photographs.]

[Then gonna look for a way to take out the bottom of the drawer because why WOULDN'T it be a secret compartment?]

[Yes. You're tiny and adorable, it's very strange. (It would have been way weirder if there had been people to play your siblings.)

The clipping in the drawers have various dates over the last thirty years.

It IS a secret compartment, because of course it is. It takes some doing to manhandle it open, but you eventually get it! Inside is a blank, sealed envelope.]
