[You are ushered out of the parlor and into a cozy sitting room. The storm continues to rage outside, but a roaring fire keeps the room nice and toasty.

As you enter, you find your clothes have changed to something vaguely 1940s Noir-ish and appropriate to your character. You all look very dapper, though you may be surprised to suddenly find yourself cross-dressing. At the same time, knowledge suddenly enters your mind- the role you will be playing in tonight's performance, information on some of your fellow guests, and the rules of the game, as well as the setup for the story.]

NOTE: In this group, the parts of Kira Graves and Tod Mises are unclaimed. ICly, Kira will have been unable to attend due to both of her children being ill. Tod simply refused the invitation because he thinks his dad is a jerk.

[The door to the balcony appears normal. The latch is unlocked but not forced.

The floor around the door looks slightly damp, though...]

[. . . . touching the floor, to feel how wet it is, and looking over to the "butler"]

- Excuse me, when did you find the body? And - did you close this door?

[soulping]

[Not very wet, like it just got a quick spray.]

The gardener discovered it...I suppose, a half hour after you had all gathered, but it appeared to have been outside for some time. And, no...I do not usually disturb Master Graves while he is working, so I have not been in this room for several days.

[wingtamer]

How frequently does the gardener work in that area? And - the rain . . . what time did it start, do you remember?

[soulping]

Every day, Miss, unless there is a storm like this. He had to retrieve something from the tool shed today, though, or he never would have spotted the body.

The rain, ah...it started after I had gone to bed, so it must have been late. Sometime after midnight, I suppose?

[wingtamer]

That would have been after everyone had arrived, right?

[soulping]

Yes, Miss. Everyone should have been in their rooms at that time.

[wingtamer]

At what times did everyone arrive? You've noted this, haven't you?

[soulping]

Certainly, Miss. Let me see...Young Master Fin arrived first, in the afternoon. Miss Delilah came around dinner time. Miss Angela and Mister Mortis arrived shortly after that. Later in the evening Mister Marvin, arrived, then yourself, and finally Mister Inalie. It was quite late by that time.

[wingtamer]

And my husband did not leave his room at all last night, correct?

[soulping]

Ah, well...he was working in his office all evening. The cook brought his dinner up to him. Then, as far as I know, he returned to his room and stayed there at least until 11, when I went to bed myself.

I do not know what he may have done after that time.

[wingtamer]

Thank you. I'm sorry, I'm asking a lot of questions. . . When does the gardener retire?

[soulping]

[blinks]

The gardener, miss?

The gardener - ah, that is to say, at what time is he relieved from his duty in the day?

Additionally, what was he retrieving this morning from the toolshed?

[soulping]

Ah, I see! In general, he works until dinner time, unless something comes up. This morning...I believe he was looking for a pair of bolt cutters? I am not sure why, however.

[wingtamer]

And last night, he retired at dinner?

[soulping]

He did indeed.

[wingtamer]

Please remind me - do servants here have lodging, or do they leave the premises?

[soulping]

Staff bedrooms are downstairs, near the kitchens. Ah...due to the close quarters, everyone should have an alibi, if that is what you are insinuating.

[wingtamer]

I'm sorry, I don't mean to suspect you. . . then you're saying the gardener couldn't have done it?

[soulping]

It is alright. This is a difficult time, and you are doing your best to help. However, I can personally attest that none of the servants left their quarters between last night and this morning.

[wingtamer]
