ALECTRYON

[ You find yourself sequestered in a cave deep within Waldemar's mountain. A table and a set of chairs have been carved from the surrounding rock. Torches are set into the walls to provide light, while a faint breeze blows through cracks in the walls and ceiling to provide ventilation. There are no doors or windows to speak of.

In the center of the room are your (randomly assigned) gifts: A BASKET OF FOODSTUFFS and AN ELEGANT SWORD WITH A BEJEWELED SHEATH.

There’s an hourglass of wrought silver embedded in the wall, with ten rubies inside. Pinned beside it is an elegant tapestry featuring the scene of a busy marketplace, bordered by a pattern of weighing scales and abacuses. You are part of THE MERCHANTS.

Resting on the table are the following: a sheet of parchment, a quill, and a capped jar of ink. Written on the parchment is a list and three words in bold lettering:
PROTECT
TARGET
DEFEND

Choose a role and a course of action.]

We have the most to gain from targeting, don't we? Since each prize is worth 5 points, we'd get those points in addition to the points for stealing.

And if it fails, we still get one more point than if we'd defended.

I guess, but if two other teams target us, we could end up losing what we have. Still, that'd be really unlucky for the first shot.

Well, we could defend every round to avoid losing anything, but we'd wind up stuck like this for the rest of the game. So it's kind of a gambling game.

The odds of two people targeting us at the same time are one in eighty-one, aren't they? So it's possible, but unlikely.

I guess it depends on if people look at "Merchants" and think hey, they'd be good to steal from, they've probably got good stuff.

I mean, we have nothing to go on besides these names, and maybe some people out there will choose based on those.

I would think Nobles would be targeted more, since merchants are usually middle-class, aren't they?

But you have a point, it depends what people think of these names to begin with.

So we should pick something kinda boring, that no one would think about either way. Like the scribes, or the bards.

At least for the first round. Based on who'd have the best stuff, they'd be pretty forgettable, which gives us a better chance of being successful.
behindenemylies: (That's stupid. You're stupid.)

And people might feel bad about stealing from peasants, or... assume people would feel bad about it, and so they'd target them.

Target Scribes, then?
