[Everything goes white, almost blindingly, as you enter Eveningstar's heart.... it's so overwhelming that you forget, for a moment, what you're doing, why you're here, and details about yourself start to slip---]

[but then it all stops, abruptly, and your senses return to you]

[stops tugging and rests her hand on it, wondering if she'll hear a question the way she did when touching the locks earlier in the game]

[it vibrates under her hand, and a Thought pops into her head:]

[Please... don't!]

[bloodbiter]

[waits to see if there's anything else]

[You feel weaker the longer you hold onto it, but:

It'll come inside... please don't let it come inside!]

[bloodbiter]

[holding onto it for a few seconds more to make certain that's all, taking a few deep breaths as she feels her energy draining away]

[soulping]

[she gets a sense of fear, but if she doesn't let go soon it will drain her completely]

[bloodbiter]

[lets go, reaching up to hold her head in her hands]

[soulping]

[her strength slowly starts to return to her]

[deadrising]

What does it say?

[ still sort of reeling from that huge magic attempt but. whatever. ]

[bloodbiter]

It just said, ah, please don't.

[deadrising]

Please don't?

[bloodbiter]

Please don't let it come inside... And then fear. I think this is going to get dangerous quickly.

[deadrising]

...I am not afraid of fighting, but I am afraid of what this could bring. There have been too many unpleasant surprises today.

[bloodbiter]

Mm.

Nightshade, do you have your bow and arrow with you? May I use your sword if so?

[deadrising]

My weapons from outside were taken from me when we arrived.

[ Hesitating, because this sword is sort of Very Important to her for not great reasons. And there's a brief moment of worry that flashes across her face before she nods. ]

Of course you can borrow it. We might be able to find another weapon soon enough.

[bloodbiter]

[takes it, nodding]

Are you certain you won't be defenseless?

[deadrising]

I'm certain. I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve.
