The moment you step through the mirror door, you seem to - slip, as if the floor were made of wax, but when you fall there is no floor to catch you; only darkness.

You fall for some time. Eventually, it feels as if you're not falling at all - but rather, floating . . . and some time after that, it almost feels as if you have no body at all. The light from which the entrance of Canis's heart is disappears quickly, and you're left with nothing - not even your own screams, if you have any; nothing seems to leave your throat, and there's no sound at all, besides. Even the rushing of wind is gone, and your own pulse seems to fade away. . .

. . . what penetrates your consciousness next is the soft sound of music. Someway or another, you find yourself on a white platform; you're dressed in plain clothes of your team color, all items gone from your person. In front of you, four stones float; all perfectly square and identical to each other. Each have images - a sword, a staff, a bow and arrow, and a sparkling circle . . . you understand what you must do.

M. . . makes a face, but nods.

[ yeah okay b y e we're leaving. ]

Okay but where are you going.

[ Sparrow swallows hard and fails to actually keep herself from crying. (she didn't want this, but she didn't want to hurt Love by leaving when being left frightened her, why couldn't Mira understand that?)

Love doesn't seem frightened by Sparrow - just sad. She wipes away a tear from Sparrow's face, rubbing at her cheeks, and radiates comfort.

"I'm sorry."

'S not your fault. Mira's being dumb.

[ she leans into Love's touch, smiling sadly. ]

He's been acting like this toward me for a little while now. I'm sorry you had to see it.

". . . I know Devotion's, too. I can't tell you it, but I can give you a hint. It's the least I can do. . . ."

I'd like that, if you don't mind.

"Devotion serves one purpose: to serve his king. Before the world was destroyed, he served a man named Koutake Haruki. . . His teammate was Gara the Bishop, in a deadly game called Di[e]ce."

[ nods slowly ]

[ if her hairpins are still in her hair she is going to try and take them out!! for a Reason. ]

"His code is. . . . well, it's what he is."

She pauses, petting Sparrow's face. "As for mine. . . You can't tell anyone."

I won't, cross my heart.

". . . Our real name."

Her voice lowers, reaching a hushed whisper.

"Kirito."

[ she repeats it in a whisper, smile growing wider and a touch happier. ]

Thank you for telling me, Love.

Love smiles, brushing part of her hair back.

". . . I love you. Thank you for finding me."

I love you too.

[ she holds out her barrettes. ]

You can keep these, if you want to. That way you'll always have part of "me" here with you so you won't be alone.

". . . Thank you."

She takes the barrettes, holding them close.

"I'll keep them with me, always."

[ smiles and swallows the lump in her throat. ]

If you need me, you know where to find me from now on.

[ it's sad to think of leaving Love, but she has hope that she won't retreat and hide away again now that she knows she isn't alone. ]

"I do. Good luck. . . "

[ a reluctant wave goodbye, and Sparrow leaves the mirror room. ]
