[You step into a very comfy, cozy room! A log fire is burning in the hearth, protected by a metal grate patterned with silver rose briars. In the center of the room is a glass table, surrounded by comfy chairs and couches in your team’s color. There is a window, but it’s completely fogged over . . . from the outside.

At the start of the game you’ll find the following items on top of the table:

- a sealed envelope labelled “Instructions.”
- a large glass orb containing 15 team-colored gems. This is in the very center of the table, and cannot be moved, broken, or tampered with in any way. A plaque at the bottom reads “Bank.”
- 6 indestructible cards, currently blank.
- 3 grooves in the glass, each just the right size for you to slot one of those cards into.]

Threaded | Top-Level Comments Only

Each team starts with a hand of six cards and 15 points in the bank. At the start of each subsequent round, three new cards will be added to the teams’ hands.

Cards have a point value of between 1 and 10.

Teams may play no less than 1 but no more than 3 cards per round. Each card must target a different team, unless it is Paired. If a team refuses to play, two cards will be randomly selected from their hand and played against them.

Cards only affect one person unless explicitly stated otherwise. Effects will last at least until endgame unless explicitly stated otherwise.

If two teams target each other with Attack Cards in the same round, both cards are negated. You cannot target the same team twice in a row.

There are 3 types of cards!
Defense Cards
Attack Cards - Successful attacks are how you earn points!
Paired Cards - Cards of this type can only be played alongside another Attack Card.

Once per round, a team may also:
Discard their hand and draw six cards from the deck. (5 points)
Buy a lottery ticket. (3 points)
Buy a shield that protects them from all damage for one round. (25 points)

Bank: 15
Hand:
SHADOW. (10) Those under the effects of Shadow will feel a presence at their back, visible but intangible, whispering for all to hear — their Shadow, built of all of their repressed thoughts and desires.

SWAP. (7) This card targets two individuals on the opposing team. The afflicted will find that they have swapped bodies with one another.

DIFFUSE. [PAIRED.] (x2 point value of the Attack Card.) Costs 3 points to play; can only be played in conjunction with another Attack Card. This card diffuses an attack between all members of the targeted team.

PROSOPAGNOSIA. (8) Complete inability to recognize the faces of people or objects, no matter how familiar they are.

REWIND. (6) Physical and mental deage.

BY ANY OTHER NAME. (1) The afflicted can no longer voice any proper noun. At all.

...We may as well. None of the cards are pleasant, despite the point value. There's no point in sacrificing a victory if we're going to participate at all.

Exactly. We'll probably be targeted either way, so we might as well put up a fight and score some points.

Mm. [Look at all the fucks she gives about the other teams!!!] I won't let you get hurt.

I still would say to save the Diffuse and Shadow cards for another turn, when teams are more likely to have at least 20 points. No need to drive people into the negatives right out of the gate.

But we can play the 8, 7 and 6 point cards on three different teams as a start.

If they take the points away from people, I don't know if it'll matter a whole lot whether we target now or later.

[She nods!]

I suppose that's true enough...Though we can only play three cards a round and Diffuse with Shadow would net us 17 points total, but with the cost of only having one backup attack. This may be the safest round to try it, as we haven't lost any points and don't require a sizable lead just yet...

If we play Diffuse with Shadow for 17 points and Prosopagnosia for 8 points, that would net us 25 points in addition to our current 15. We'd be able to afford a block for a round, if we wanted.

The only trick is making sure they'd hit, so we'd have to strike a team unlikely to strike us.

That's a good point...I don't know which team would be best, in that case.

The unfortunate thing about it is that our best targets would either be teams that refuse to play hard, which would I can only think of Takshaka as a possibility, or friends that would refuse to hit us which is a...brutal way to play.
