Then I suggest we try trapping them. I might be able to assist with that.

Will that happen if they're properly cooked? We're starving here, after all.

But rats are full of diseases!

That's not actually true, not all rats are, and if it's bacterial, a thorough cooking will get rid of whatever it is.

And if it isn't? It still sounds really unsafe . . .

. . . we're starving, so I think that would be the best option. . . but it'll be more expensive to cover medical bills.

. . . I'd prefer not to; I don't think it's worth the risk. But it's your decision in the end.
