You find yourself alone in this barren world with only your team and your cosmic powers. Do you use them responsibly? You're a god now, so think it over. You have all the time in the world.
Task: Create the basis of your world. Cost: Someone on your team must share a time they felt love for a place. The more heartfelt the confession the stronger your world will be.
Decide the setting for the world you are going to create and any "rules" specific to this world. Does gravity work in reverse? Does death not exist? Is there magic?
When you've decided the type of world you wish to create submit below.
Now then... I think we have all the details down, so now it's time make the offering of the cost. Considering that we're supposed to "fill it with love", I'd like it if everyone that can contribute to it does, though if you can't contribute to a certain category, just say so.
For now, we've got love for a place. This might be a bit hard for Elli, who's still pretty new, but... Montage and I can both make an offering, right?
Anyways, I'll go first. The most precious place to me is... Honestly, kind of small. It was a single crowded room back in my college. The Debate Club's club room had barely any room to do anything, but it's a very precious place to me. It's where I was introduced to the person I love, it's where we worked to win the student council war so that we could make the school into one that protects it's students... I remember going for days living off of coffee and snack food, being unable to sleep because there was so much work to do.
It's also where we found out her partner was an alien, where I taught her daughter to sing, the place I used to connect to my friends in another world... It's a place full of precious memories to me.
As for myself, the place that I am most fond of would be my house in the city of Mihua. It was one of the mansions that existed on an estate owned by my family, the noble lineage of Quetzalhuitzil. I lived there with my three spouses and our three children, and our attendants. It was quite elegant. Two stories high, adorned with murals and tapestries. The scent of flowers and incense wafted through throughout, calming the mind even in the most trying of times. But what was most important about that place was the love I have for my family.
First, the laws of physics apply unless otherwise stated. With that out of the way...
Animism and reincarnation rule the world and apply to everything within it, including the world itself. There are spirits for everything, and there's special magic dedicated to communing with spirits, known as Teotl.
Every living thing, including some spirits have 3 souls: - The Blood Soul consists of life force, health, and personality. It’s your thoughts and conscious mind. - The Bone Soul is destiny, memory, and learning. - The Breath Soul is emotions, desires, and the subconscious.
In addition to this, there are roughly four magic "Paths", each associated with a color and a god, with the four gods being the sun, the moon, the ocean, and the planet itself. Particularly powerful spirits can assist people, and as such are generally worshipped as well, as the four main gods rarely make direct intervention on people's lives, at least as far as most understand it.
The afterlife consists of thirteen layers of "heaven", and nine layers of the underworld, with spirits mostly occupying the "heaven" layers while the the spirits of the dead (which are still composed of three souls) reside in the layers of the underworld, slowly descending to the bottom where they are reincarnated. Spirits can die and end up going through the underworld layers to be reincarnated as well. This naturally applies to the concepts they represent, too: As mentioned before, the world itself can and will eventually go through reincarnation as well.
Task: create the objects of your world. Cost: Someone on your team must share a time they felt love for an object. The more heartfelt the confession the stronger your world will be.
This would be plants, buildings, giant robots, asteroids. All the window dressing for the setting you chose. What are the details of your world?
When you've decided what kind of objects you wish to create submit below.
Well, if we're here to create the foundations of everything, I suppose this is where we establish the universe itself. I can probably handle this one, if anyone needs direction.
There's a working solar system with all the trappings you would expect from a solar system, but the important thing is the one planet we're going to be focussing on. It's earthlike and temperate, with a variety of seasons, weather, and plants. The planet itself is mostly oceanic, with the living space of the planet itself composed primarily of four large continents. Most people live on the continents, though there are a people living on smaller islands as well. There are a wide variety of towns and cities with differing architectural styles throughout the world, as one might expect.
Task: Create life. Cost: Someone on your team must share a time they felt love for a person. The more heartfelt the confession the stronger your world will be.
Are there people in your world? Animals? You may choose to skip this step if life has no place in the world you created.
When you've decided the living creatures you wish to create submit below.
There is a huge variety of plants and animals, as one might expect. However, we're focusing on the intelligent species here to save time:
First are humans. They aren't necessarily "human" as we understand them, but they're humanoid and capable of using both magic and science, depending on how they're taught. Second, Swordians. They're essentially sentient weapons that can turn into humanoid forms as well. All of them are associated with a single path of magic, which shows in their hair and eye colors when they're taking a humanoid form. Third, Ethereals. Ethereals aren't so much a race themselves, so much as a random mutation on the other races that allows them to transform words and willpower into power to fight with.
In addition, one of many nations on this world is the Mihuatec empire, located on the Western continent. While it's been steadily declining, it's still one of the most influential nations on the planet, due in large part to previous success in conquest and steady emphasis on trade and education. Military service is generally expected in the Mihuatec empire, and there is a strong emphasis on discipline throughout the nation.
The nation itself is ruled by two primary figures: The Sun Empress and the Moon Emperor, who are generally considered the most important figures in the Sun and Moon religious organizations, though the nature of running a country ultimately means that most of their work is political rather that religious in nature. That being said, the strong connection between religion and magic means that the church commands a great deal of respect, and while many people are able to use magic without getting involved in any church, the natural organization behind the church means that they're considered the true experts in magic, outside of Teotl.
Sacrifice of sentient beings is an existing part of religious practice, though sacrifices are on a strictly voluntary basis: As the sacrifice helps give the priests more power to do their work, being a sacrifice is considered to be a great honor. Four to five festivals a year include sacrifice as part of the festival, with each province within the empire offering its own sacrifice.
Demorphous is a world of the spirit. Everything has a spirit. From the mightiest person to the smallest teaspoon. There is nothing that can be considered "lifeless" in this world. Even magic itself has a spirit. As expected of a world where everything is alive there are very specific rules for how everything interacts, from the four types of magics to the three souls to the four main gods.
Of course, as expected of a world where everything is ordered down to the nine underworlds and the thirteen heavens, everyone becomes an expert of working the system. The highest of the high are those who found the right loopholes and used the right laws, no matter how ancient or nigh unheard of. The lowest of the low are those who merely go about their life with little attention to the latest laws and orderings. They prefer to call themselves the happiest of the happiest, focusing on emotional satisfaction over quality of life or social position.
Four large continents make up the majority of the landmass of Demorphous. The first and most respected is Mihuatec Empire, home primarily to humans. Ruled by the Sun Empress and Moon Emperor, it's a country with a focus on conquest, religion and sacrifice to better the lives of your fellow man. It is the highest honor to be selected as a sacrifice and one many people would even kill for. Those of the Mihuatec Empire are proud and devoted to the edict issued by the Empress and Emperor every year on the first day dictating how the people should strive to live their lives for the eyar.
The second continent holds the a collection of fragmented nations composed mainly of clans. Swordians are the majority here, but it's not strange to find a human amongst their ilk. The clans have a tendency towards fighting, but they draw together to oppose larger infringement on their autonomy when necessary. Many various rituals and folklore can be found through the continent with it not being strange to feel as if one has stepped into another world when crossing the border between one nation and another.
The third continent is the Feonion Republic and holds a relatively equal number of Swordians and humans. They are fast overtaking the Mihuatec Empire in relevancy with their technological and magical advances, but have yet gain the refinement of an aged state, being a mere 80 years old. The people have a tendency towards rashness which lends itself towards innovation, but provides quite the stumbling block on the political front.
The fourth continent is the Endov Magiland. The land is mostly uninhabited due to its unpredictable nature with the most volatile of the habitats of Demorphous taking up this continent. Volcanoes, deserts, scrubland and canyons fill this continent. It's also where the Ethereals have staked their home. The name taken by those born with the feared ability to transform words and willpower into awe inspiring power, they are alternately feared and respected everywhere they go. Tired of the prejudices they claimed the Endov Magiland as their own for all those Ethereal who simply wish to live out their lives in peace.
[You behold your creation. It's filled with your love and hardwork. This place is yours and it is beautiful in its own, unique way.
But now that you have done a god's work it's time to become a mortal again. You feel your power leaving you and you become yourself again. Your world wavers, blinks, and you find yourself in space.]
