You're alone at first, but soon someone bursts into the room. At a glance it's evident that this person is meant to be a detective, as they're dressed in a trenchcoat and deerstalker hat.

They walk across the table from you and slam their hands down on the table. ]

RULES.

▶ This is a prisoner's dilemma game - you will have to decide whether to trust (cooperate) or betray (defect) another team each round without being able to plan or talk things out with them beforehand.

▶ You are a criminal who worked 4 jobs with other criminals, and have now been picked up to be interrogated about those four jobs. Your responses to interrogation as well as those of your former partners will determine how much time you will spend in jail.

▶ In-game, your two options are to stay silent (cooperate) or to betray and give the detective information about your partner's involvement (defect). Each has its own risks and rewards.

▶ Your whole team (whether 1 person or all 6/7) will pick one choice per round.

▶ The time you spend in jail will accumulate over the four rounds - if you earn +10, +7, +2, +0, you will wind up with an overall sentence of +19 years in jail.

▶ Round 1 is from 2-3pm, Round 2 is from 3:10-4:10pm, Round 3 is from 4:20-5:20pm, and Round 4 is from 5:30-6:30pm. All times are in PST.

▶ Failure to submit a choice for a round by the deadline will (in true VLR fashion) default you into picking cooperate. I will try to remind people once after the deadline, but if I cannot reach you or I don't get a reply soon I will freeze the round and move on. The game won't work if people get held up.

▶ Please refer to the choices guide to see how many years in jail you would earn based on yours and your partner team's choice.

"We know all about the bank heist...we know you and "Snake" were the two who broke in and stole the million dollars, and we can prove it."

"Now..there are a few ways ways we could do this. We're interrogating "Snake" right now, so if he rolls over and confesses about your involvement and you say nothing, we'll be able to get you for ten years in jail. Of course, if the opposite happens - you confess and he says nothing - then he gets the ten years, and you walk."

"What happens if you both confess, then? We'll have enough evidence from both of your testimonies to put you both away for 7 years in prison. Of course, if neither you nor "Snake" admit anything, we still have enough other evidence for both of you to spend two years behind bars."

"So...what do you say? Are you willing to confess?"

"You know, the bank heist isn't the only thing we know about....we know about the kidnapping you and "Tiger" organized, and we're planning to arraign you for that as well."

"Of course...the same caveats as before apply. It really comes down to whether or not you can trust "Tiger" to keep his mouth shut."

"So...what do you say? Are you willing to confess?"

"We have "Cow" here as well...my men picked up enough information to connect the two of you to the drug smuggling operation we've been trying to bust. The question is, which one of you will talk first?"

"Probably doesn't need to be said, but the same stipulations apply here. How much time you're going to spend in jail depends on whether either of you talk. Can you really trust "Cow" not to rat you out?"

"And, last but certainly not least...we recently got a big break in the Kyriakos Murders case. Evidence points to it being a two-man job...and sources tell me that you and "Rooster" were the two to do it."

"Like before, what I can nail you with depends on how cooperative you and "Rooster" are...but surely you're willing to give me information to save your own neck, aren't you?"
