ADULT ROOM

[Welcome to the adult party room. Before you walk in, there is a walk-in closet containing every piece of clothing imaginable where you can get dressed up. No matter how large or small you may be, everything will size to fit you automatically.

Inside, there are tables decked out with the following:

Vegetarian and meat pizza.
Garlic bread.
Ice cream with any sauce and sprinkles desired.
Brandy, wine, fruit juices and water.

There are individual tables, with proper chairs and romantically lit candles.]

((Adult task lists.))

[Bit of a smile.]

At least someone can say I'll die with my youth intact. And I don't know... Maybe something a little surprising. That dress suits you, you know.

[In a lot of ways... And he'd maybe really like to take it off. Kissing the crook of her elbow sensually. And flicking his eyes her way a little conspiratorially.]

So let me ask you this: can I set a date for tonight?

Forsaken have no concept of age. We are merely existing.

[ Ah...she sort of wishes that she could feel better than she does, because she's pretty sure this would be more exciting. Not that it isn't exciting to feel a little bit pampered and forget about being upset and angry for a few seconds -- even if forgetting is more like repressing. Oh well. ]

And what sort of date am I agreeing to...? [ She notices that look in his eyes and isn't quite sure what to think, but...she would be alright with ignoring her problems for a little bit, she thinks. She just wants to know before she firmly agrees because she's that kind of person. ]

Something away from everyone else. And I can show you just how much I appreciate the dress.

[Plucking lightly at the lace on her shoulder, moving it up the slightest.]

[ She does take a moment to consider this before nodding carefully; her face is interested, but the gaze is all careful calculation, because it takes more than two glasses to really impair her judgment... ]

I won't have this dress later. So you will have to imagine it when I come over.

[ Hrm...no, she's just not good at this. ]

...I am not particularly good at romance, and my ability to comprehend things like it is small. [ a small smile ] You have probably already noticed that.

[Looking at her for a moment. And then he laughs and drops his hand.]

No, no. ...I'm sorry. You're fine. I would appreciate having a reason not to be around everyone later. If you're up for it.

[He does look apologetic for a moment before it's followed by some disappointment in himself. Kind of...being a major asshole. He stiffens his back towards the rest of the room and downs more of his drink.]

We can go someplace else. Though I advise letting the native bear population breed before we kill off any more.

[ Excuse you -- she reaches a hand up to try and grab his chin with her cold fingers. Don't give her that look okay! ]

Tell me why you're uncomfortable. There must be a reason hidden in there, under all your clever words. I've been honest with you, now you must return the favor.

[There is some surprise at that. He doesn't see why she would be interested. And, truthfully, he doesn't find his feelings very interesting. They're just omnipresent at things like this and near impossible to ignore. That feeling... Like anyone in the room would use or abuse him at any moment. Those he can see and others that are out of sight. But not out of mind.]

Parties leave a bad taste in my mouth.

[Looking away and grabbing another bottle to drink since the first one's finished. There is going to be a lot of drinking here. Maybe if Roxy were here he wouldn't... But it's just him and he's always on his worst behavior when he's alone.]

It's not anything important. Anyway... I was wrong to act like that.

[ That's not the whole truth, and she knows it -- only some of the truth, and she has become tired of part truths. The disappointment on her face is visible for just a second before she masters it, changing it into something like resignation and her normal gaze of vague disdain. ]

I see. Well, the game will be over soon, and you can return home.

[ No one but myself can be trusted. Why would that change with a few sweet nothings? She's mentally chastising herself for expecting anything different, and for trusting him with her truths to begin with. Liars, all around. ]

Your advances would have gone better had I been alive to enjoy them.

[ Not for the first time she wishes she were alive. ]

[He sees that. And he looks down for a moment. Then he throws his drink aside carelessly and reaches out to take her hand sharply.

The room disappears to be replaced by a ballroom. It's very rich, expensive. There's food, wine, flowers. People. No one from Kyriakos. Beautiful, fashionable people who dance and laugh and are everything you'd expect of a grand party. It's all beautiful.

But even if everyone seems to be going about their own business there are signs. Flicks of eyes here and there, faces behind fans, candid smirks. They're watching Nightshade. Everyone is. Not like she's a person; but as if she's an object they wish to break or bend to their will. The malice in the air is practically palpable beneath the gavotte playing.

Zelos is next to her looking thoroughly miserable.]

[ It takes her aback enough that she seems remotely startled by the change; she looks at all of the faces, searching for Dawon, and finding none. Then, this has to be a memory....but all of these humans make it distinctly Not Hers, even if the political chessboard is familiar to her, she would never be invited to a party with so many living humans. ]

So this is why...?

[ she murmurs it to him, pensive -- and turns to look at him curiously instead of following her urge to make it so that these people have something real to stare at. He's sharing with her, and she appreciates it; she almost feels like she should ask him to stop for his own comfort, as his sad expression tugs a little at her cold, dead heart ]

[Letting go of her hand he crosses his arms. Protectively more than anything.]

Yes. Though this is only half of it. Do you see her? [He nods towards a gorgeous blonde watching Nightshade invitingly from behind a fan. Delicate shades of green coat her long, elegant nails. She waves coquettishly and begins to walk towards them.] There's poison in her nail polish. There is --was-- a team of mercenaries outside on the balcony too. Funny thing was we used to drink together...

[Until he had to kill them oops. Camaraderie is a hard thing to come by.]

I don't like parties.

[ She shifts, standing a little straighter; there's a look she generally reserves for members of the Horde's leadership on her face, one that portrays both boredom and being entirely done with someone's shit -- not for him, but for the girl. ]

I wish I could show you my memories like this... [ Hrm, but she does feel a little bad for him, or at least feels kinship with him. Being the only person you can trust in a crowd of people is difficult. Having to do it day after day is tiring. But she can't really understand why he would be sad to kill someone who's obviously out to get him, so she asks a different question. ]

Why? What do they gain from killing you?
