You find yourself in a grand throne room, with large, ornate thrones enough for your number to sit. Stringed puppets hang from the high ceiling, dressed and looking like the "citizens" of Ombrie. ...they're all faceless. The singular door that you walked through creaks shut at the beginning of the game.

The kingdom is in shambles. With the death of the most beloved king and your stepson not yet of crowning age, you alone must fight for the right to the throne. In your way stands your adoptive family members, who intend to take the crown for their own greed, though your stepson seems to be supporting you, as does his fiance. With the three of you working together, there's nothing that can stop you. But you must work quickly—these next few weeks are crucial to securing your kingdom.

It would be simpler to simply execute her, but I am assuming you all will not take that as an option.

Faking her death should be easy enough.

Well, we don't even know for sure that she's guilty!

It's the maid who should be executed, for serving tea that was likely where the poison entered the mix.

No, I just think angry mobs are really hard to reason with when they've already made up their minds.

If we interrogate the maid, we could get a confession, exonerating the daughter-in-law. Assuming that does not work, we can proceed with faking her death as previously planned.

And then what? Execute the maid?

That's a shitty solution if there's a way to get everybody out alive!

If the maid did murder the king, it's entirely within reason that she pay for the crime.

Then throw her in prison to serve her sentence, don't jump straight to killing people!

Because the maid is the one who said they had an argument. She has a vested interest in making their relationship seem like it was on rocky ground, hence paving the way for a reasonable doubt that the girl murdered the king. And deflecting suspicion from herself.

It could be. All I know is what we've been told. Ideally you could get the girl to tell you what this argument was about.

A lot of people are trying to steal our throne! She might be in cahoots with them.

If that's the case she should definitely be executed. Letting her go will just enable her to get back to her conspirators and reveal her knowledge of the kingdom to them.

What about prison? The king was really popular for being kind and stuff...

Prison is fine if that's an option, as long as it's secure. Make sure any guards are ones the queen trusts completely.
