You step into a small airy room made entirely of porcelain and frosted glass. Squishy armchairs — the old fashioned type; pretty velvet affairs with patterns of roses in your team’s color and legs of dark wood — line the walls.

Pride of place in the center of the room is a table, upon which rests: a list of instructions; a spread of cards; and a box made out of mirrored glass with eleven slits in the top. Each slit is outlined in a team color.

Beyond the table is a huge, floor to ceiling hourglass. A certain number of blood red crystals reside at the bottom ...

I have no intention of using that. Practically speaking, the card's not worth it: The cost of that should really be higher than the game allows.

Alectryon and Vanara likely attacked us last turn, so they're probably safe to target. Aside from that...

Mmm. I can barely think straight, so . . . so I'm fine with whatever we eventually decide on.

If... we went with removing a... m-minor body part, then... we could go for removing an... eye... [ ew ew ew god ] and... losing a significant memory.

I mean, we... we all have lost significant memories. And... m-maybe those memories include things that happened... here?

The memory one is tricky, though . . . because it may effect other memories attached to it. Or - people. I saw something similar happen to someone here and - it wasn't good. At all.

It's a hard situation. We have two sixes, and which one's harsher on a person depends on the individual.

I know. But at least with physical damage, there's . . . healers around, who can help. And people who knows first aid.

No one can help with a memory lost.

All of our memories are lost. We get them back eventually. A card like that simply delays it. It's hardly a punishment at all.

It has a larger effect, though. Physical damage is easier to deal with.

No it isn't. Something like this is just an inconvenience.
