HENWEN
You are the advance guard of the army of the Grand Gurkhani Empire, who came to dominate this land centuries ago. While your people originally came from the east, bringing along with you your religion and culture, ou have since cut off all ties to your old homeland and settled here in Jambudvipa. At this point, you are as much natives as this land as anyone else.
However, recently, a confederation of states made up of peasant rabble and local lords who worship the Devas in opposition to the Holy Emperor, and have staunchly refused the influence of your shining culture have risen up in revolt, spitting in the face of the freedoms and goodwill provided to them.
Your job is to establish a foothold in the jungles of Gangaridai, the easternmost region of the empire. However, the people of the United Empire -- a state from across the seas -- were recently given permission to build a series of trade outposts in this area. It all seemed benign at first, but they've started to seem more armed than merchants ought to be...and there are rumours they've opened negotiations with the rebels, as well.
What are you here for? Riches, knowledge, recognition. Your destiny is to carve a path through these savage lands, and to accomplish something that will make you known. The ascent to glory is never easy, but you're confident you will reach those lofty heights.
