→ your characters are aware that going backwards is an awful idea, and shouldn't be attempted. if they leave an area, they can't backtrack, but that definitely does not mean they will not ( somehow ) end up back there.

→ in every zone aside from zone 00 and zone 02, you're more than welcome to partner up with someone else!

→ all abilities/powers are on, and characters have all items on them, including weapons.

[ congrats, there are absolutely no vampires down that path. but the further to the left yukine goes, the more fuzzy around the edges the path seems. blurred. it's almost impossible to make out the details, even if he stops to stare at something to try.

but at the end. . is a fairly nice-sized building, and even without being able to tell what kind of building it is, he'll recognize it as home almost immediately. ]

( would he have been able to snag a broken piece of wood or something as a weapon on his way out?

if everything else is fading away, then "home" seems like the place to go. because it's the only place to go. )

[ yes. he can take that wood. it's probably charred, but it sure is wood. good job. you have a wood.

the sliding door opens up wide into the living room and. . there's really not much to it. the furniture's all overturned, there are several liquor bottles scattered across the floor, and some children's toys ( blocks, plush toys ), as well as a cabinet under the table with. . a stain leading from it, over to the open kitchen situated at the other side of the room.

is it just you, or does it feel very, very cold in here. ]

( something about this resonates vey strongly within him in place where his memories have been forever locked off. gripping tightly into the wooden plank, he pushes around some of the furniture to get a better idea of what's going on.

THE STAIN ESPECIALLY WARRANTS INVESTIGATION. )

[ the stain is blood, yukine. blood.

motherfucking blood. none of the overturned furniture. . gets any kind of reaction, though. ]

[secare]

( he knew it would be, but confirming it only serves to piss him off a little. or maybe a lot.

LET'S FOLLOW THE STAIN. it probably came from someone or something after all. )

[soulping]

[ it leads into the kitchen! there's a giant meat-cleaver sitting on the counter, and two very, very frightening shadows looming towards the back of the room, where there's another door leading somewhere.

but maybe you shouldn't go over there. there's already a sharp pain in your chest, it already hurts sososo bad, they're. . only going to get mad at you more, aren't they? you should probably hide. . ]

[secare]

( from meat cleaver to. . . cabinet?

he feels the sharp pain and the fear in his chest, but he can only feel angry on top of that. what the hell happened in here? isn't this a home?

he considers taking the meat cleaver for a second before following the trail back to the cabinet and opening it.

he refuses to hide. )

[soulping]

[ the cabinet opens easily enough but as soon as it does, a loud, startled yelp comes from inside of it, a small form struggling to curl himself up even tighter against the back wall of the cabinet. his cheeks are covered in tear stains, eyes red and puffy and nose runny, and that's not the worst of it.

there's a very, very obvious blood stain on the upper center of his shirt, but it's probably a bit hard to tell when he's sitting so far back. . the smell's obvious enough, though. ]

N-no, please--

( breathing out his name in what feels like a molotov cocktail of emotions. now he's scared, scared because there's really someone else here and it's someone so important to him that needs protecting but also so angry that he rethinks the meat cleaver idea. it's only fair right? cleave them back for this shit?

who the fuck would be so fucking awful? )

[secare]

( his parents. . . he said as much before, didn't he? )

[secare]

( this is his childhood home? so much for a fucking "home".

he has to stop himself from reaching out to him. instead he speaks softly and slowly. )

Hey, hey. I'm not here to hurt you. I want to help.

[soulping]

Y-you're not--?

[ he looks up to yukine, wide-eyed and more than a little scared but at least he's not shoving himself further back anymore. ]

[secare]

No. You're a very special person to me.

( very slowly extending a hand to him. )

Will you come out of the cabinet? It can't be comfortable in there.

[soulping]

[ looks down to yukine's hand, lips pressed tight together. ]

B-but Daddy--

[secare]

It's okay. You'll be safe with me.

( lingers, not moving. )

[soulping]

O-okay. .

[ he's still very, very wary, but--he does move a hand out, and places it in yukine's own. ]

[secare]

My name is Yukine.

( gently clasping onto his hand to help guide him out. )

Do you know somewhere safer we could go?

[soulping]

[ carefully crawling his way out of the cabinet on his knees and once he is up, yuu--grabs onto yukine's wrist with both of his hands, holding on tight. ]

I don't know. M-mommy's going to be mad. .

[secare]

( slowly trying to lean down, so he can pick him up. they gotta go, man. )

It's okay. I'll figure something out.

C'mon, let's go outside.

[soulping]

[ he's really really cold, there's no heartbeat, but he is breathing? and when yukine picks him up, his skin does warm up a bit. ]

Yukine. .

[secare]

( THAT'S SCARY AS SHIT. trying very hard not to think about that. )

It's going to be fine. I promise I'll take care of you.

( NOW ONWARD TO GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF THIS HELLHOLE. he plans to put some distance between them and the house then he'll try to check out the wound. doesn't seem productive to stay somewhere they might get attacked though. )

THE ONLY WAY TO GO is back the way he came, but yuu seems to be content now that he's not in the house, and is shoving his sleeve against the teartracks on his cheeks. ]
