I don't disagree with you, Roc. All Echoes were like us originally but at the same time they gave up so much to be what they are. In a way, we should also respect that.
They have. More than I think a lot of people know or care to think about. They can never leave this place... never pursue their dreams in the worlds they came from... never have a world to go back to. Instead, they have to always watch people they love leave them. It's sad.
[ Says the Cat who thought about turning himself into an Echo to help others. ]
Sometimes people make huge sacrifices for the sake of others; Echoes are the same in that regard. They give up everything to ensure that no one else might have to.
I think it's important to think of other peoples' needs. Sometimes... it's important to realize that other people need to be able to give, and to accept that love, in order to let them feel good too. Sometimes they want to be the one providing, instead of... provided for.
Now I don't understand the entire case with your former Patron but I'm sure she never saw any of you as a burden even though she was going through so much. [ He thinks back to his own patrons... ]
For us Cats, our Princess and Estelle both have tried so hard to keep not only us well but the entire realm. It's why we Cats also try so hard to help them whenever we can.
[ Ah...and here's the source of the guilt he felt earlier no doubt. ]
I won't tell you that you didn't fail but I will say that if there's anything that I've learned while being here is that there's always a chance to undo what has been done. She might be in the mirror now but maybe there'll be a way to bring her back.
After all, there's plenty in this place we don't understand. I'm sure when we find more answers to this place we'll find a way to rescue her from her fate.
[ she smiles, and although it's a bit watery, it's genuine ]
I haven't given up hope yet. I visit her every day and try to think of her. If enough people do, then maybe... she'll have enough energy to come back to us someday. I just hope it's in time for me to say how sorry I am.
[ He'll lean over and pat her on the head and maybe ruffle her hair a bit. ]
Invite me along next time. Echoes are powered by the thoughts of people so the more of us you get to come along, the sooner she'll come back. You're not alone in any of this.
Re: THE RIVERBANK
[ Pardon Panther for answering immediately. Maybe...he likes fish? ]
Re: THE RIVERBANK
Here.
[ she points to one row of onigiri ]
These have maguro in them.
Re: THE RIVERBANK
Thank you. [ Taking one of the onigiri and taking a bite out of it and once he's finish chewing— ]
So I hear that these Echoes here are important to you? I don't think I recognize all of them. [ He'll motion to the floating girl. ] Who's that?
Re: THE RIVERBANK
[ she looks sad, and you get that ping too--also guilt. ]
Re: THE RIVERBANK
[ He'll immediately direct his attention to her—that guilt... ]
I didn't know you could lose a patron.
Re: THE RIVERBANK
Re: THE RIVERBANK
Though this reminds him of something— ]
Roc, was that around the time you were staying outside in a tent?
Re: THE RIVERBANK
Re: THE RIVERBANK
You never did but it seemed odd. Why else would you be out there in the woods like that?
Re: THE RIVERBANK
[ her hands curl into fists on her lap
... ]
We wisps... we don't treat the echoes the way we should.
Re: THE RIVERBANK
And how do you think we should treat Echoes?
Re: THE RIVERBANK
Re: THE RIVERBANK
That's true. I remember Candy and how she was once like us then turned into an Echo.
Re: THE RIVERBANK
Re: THE RIVERBANK
[ But the important thing is— ]

It's both selfish and selfless.

Re: THE RIVERBANK
[ The idea of just wanting to give and give but never really accepting of when others try to do the same. ]
Do you think it's selfish?
