Weird thing: at least for a little while, no matter how close you think you get to those whispers, there's no one there]

[ can he make out what the whispers were saying? or is it all just indistinct? ]

That being said, eventually he might notice rustling in the trees nearby. Like he's being followed.]

[ he's keeping track of that rustling as he keeps walking, trying to at least stay on his toes just in case he needs to either book it or beat something ]

[it's pretty much just keeping pace with him]

[it doesn't sound like it could be more than two individuals, if that]

[Whatever or whoever it is, it's continuing to match his pace...and then managing to overtake him.

And then the rustling stops, a few feet ahead.]

[ coming to a stop, looking around him for anything he could pick up and use as a weapon ]

[rocks or some medium-sized sticks are basically his choices]
