[Daisy struggles against the shadow's influence, but eventually it comes to a standstill. Abruptly, the shadow laughs, a howling evil cackle, and turns tail to run right into one of the mirrors. A cloud of darkness surrounds the mirror, and you can hear echoes of the shadow's laughter. An aura of power surges from it, and you can imagine a battle going on inside. If the shadow isn't subdued quickly enough, it may destroy Daisy completely.

If you decide to jump through the mirror, you will find yourself somewhere else...]

[Would you trade strength and passage for my blood, then?]

Yes, that is very good. I will help you.

[And what assurance do I have that you will keep your word?]

I am a book. I am hungry. I will help you if you help me.

[First, she simply presses her cut finger against the page, to see what happens.]

[The blood seeps into the page. The writing in the book writes the word "yes" over and over and over again... it seems to surge with power. The pages stop, allowing you to look through the book if you wish.]

[This book is way too enthusiastic about drinking Montage's blood. That worries her, but nevertheless, it seems like the best way to go forward. It is not too time consuming, and produces results, at least. Still. Something about this book is a little off.

She flips through the pages of the book.]

[You flip through the other pages of the book. There are a lot of pictures in this book, with very few words. You don't see scenes or memories, but you feel... impressions. You feel someone studying as hard as they can, reading and writing and reciting, day after day after day. Frantically memorizing history, trying to remember everything you can, using your native tongue as much as you can, because if you don't, then you're just throwing your culture away. You hear an angry voice, it spits at you, "Ma banal las halamshir var vhen!" (You do nothing to further our people.) You've heard it from your clansmen, from your friends, from the people you've fought for, the people you've worked so hard for, time and time again. They don't understand. They don't even try to understand. And then... you feel a sharp prick of anger, of snarling fury, as you vow to show them all what you're capable of. They'll see what you can do. They'll never underestimate you again. You'll show them what one elf is capable of. They'll regret ever scorning you. You want them to regret. You want them to feel guilt. You want them to fear. You want them to hurt.

The torrent of rage and bitterness quickly subsides, and the impression fades into memory, into nothingness. The pages flip back to the blank page. This is most likely the core of the shadow's power in here.]

[She reminds her a bit of old uncle Zavi, the priest, the philosopher, the scholar. She had never been a scholar per se, even devoted to a knowledge god though she may be, but Zavi taught her the importance of learning, of information and study. She never forgot that.

But this book. Was she offering power to that shadow? She cannot say. But if she did, then she had also uncovered its weakness. There is something to be said for decisiveness.

She takes the quill, and stabs it into the empty page.]

[You successfully embed the quill into the book. It starts to bleed, a dark mixture of ink and blood, onto the floor.]

[I hope I didn't fuck this up lmao

She smears the blood-ink onto her hand. Does it feel like anything in particular?]

[It feels like blood and also ink.

But the moment it touches the floor, it seems to... fill up. It sinks into the carpet and begins to fill up the room. Soon, you have a large pool of blood-ink up to your ankles, and there doesn't seem to be any sign of it stopping.]

[Oh, maybe she did fuck up.

WELL. She tries to hightail it over to the other mirror. Does it look any more enter-able?]

[Weirdly enough, yes. The darkness tendrils don't seem to like the flood of ink-blood any more than you do. As it rises along the bottom of the mirror, the darkness tendrils start to bubble and fizz on contact.]

[She smears ink-blood on the mirror, and pushes her way through.]

[It takes a good amount of ink-blood to fill the room, about up to waist-height, but you are eventually successful. The darkness tendrils fizzle away, and the Eluvian shimmers. Your way is clear.]

[She goes through!]
