You crowd into the elevator, which, thankfully, has enough capacity for twenty five people and thus is not actually crowded at all right now. To the left of the door are the buttons: door open, door close, and floor numbers. Only Basement Level D and Ground Floor are lit right now.
Towards the back of the elevator is a flat-screen console.
A quick tap brings up — whups, no, it’s gone. Instead you get a screen that reads thus: “The Emergency Override System, hacked with love courtesy of your friend, Control. I’ve simplified the system, all you need to do on your end is press the button.”
In the center of the screen, one on top of the other, are two touchscreen buttons: “Drop the Insurgents” and “Don’t.”

With a shudder and pleasant, cheerful jingle, the elevator begins to move steadily up. A few minutes later, with another jingle, the doors slide open …
