[You exit the parlor through a doorway in your team's color and find yourself in some kind of entry hall. Aside from the one behind you, there are four doors - one on each of the side walls, and two opposite the entrance - each with an image carved into it. They're a bit hard to make out, however, since only one torch on the far wall is lit, lending the place a gloomy atmosphere. What you can see is that the room, once richly decorated, is now a mess; the walls are covered in peeling, royal purple wallpaper, and great swaths of the ceiling are coated with sticky cobwebs. The floor is covered with large marble tiles, inlaid with some kind of swirling design in glittering gold - but sadly, it too is out of shape. The tiles seem to shift a bit under your weight, and some of them are even missing altogether.

If you try the doors you'll find that all of them are locked, and no amount of manhandling can get them to budge.]

[OOC: This game is a treasure hunt/dungeon crawl! Your characters will be exploring the rooms they pass through and facing different challenges in each one. Some rooms will be exploratory, others will have specific rules! The goal is just to reach the end. Teams will be scored on things like teamwork, cleverness, creativity, etc.

Skills are ON, but there will be penalties if you mess up Knut's castle. He lives here, you know!]

[You head through a short tunnel and emerge on- the banks of a river? To be more accurate, it's an underground canal with stone platforms on either side. A boat is tied up near you, and the door is on the other side. Easy peasy, right?

Well, no. As you enter three other figures are moving toward the boat- translucent, wispy, white humanoid shapes that turn to you with hazy faces.]

Oh, hello. I didn't know we had company.

... Are you guys ghosts? [Is being a spirit medium actually going to be relevant in a game?]

Astute observation. [The spirit shimmers and sounds kind of sarcastic.] We're poltergeists, to be exact, though I doubt the difference means much to you. What brings you to our humble dungeon today?

Actually, we're just passing through and looking for shiny stuff.

[ Glancing between the ghosts and Star a few times... ]

[one of the other spirits suddenly pipes up at Star's comment] Shiny stuff...? What kind...of shiny stuff?

[Also gonna gesture to the shiny thing she found in the other room] Like that! That's pretty shiny, right?

Boats are hideous, unreliable things, anyway. Let me guess: it's broken.

[ FUCK THE BOAT, eyes the water and reaches a hand into it, experimentally. ]

[ OW OW OW RUDE, jerking his hand back and fending off any that are too determined. ]

[Your quick moving and piranha punching skills mean that they don't actually get a bite. Good for you! The poltergeist is cracking up, though.]

[the slow-talking spirit look like it's going to answer, but the leader cuts them off.] Sure do. We all count the same for the stupid rules of the stupid boat.

...Does anything happen if you try to swim?

Can't swim. Haven't got the strength for it. [ghost humor.] And don't even think about swimming yourself. If ya try it, well...

[points to the water. looking closer , you can see the frenzied movement of hundreds of scaly bodies under the waves]

Piranhas, naturally. That'll just ruin your whole day.

..Ewwww... gross.

I guess we can take two trips? Or is there another way across?

It'll take more'n two trips to get all six of us over there. The boat can't move with no one in it, so we'll have to keep going back and forth.

[The spirit looks Star up and down with weird expression. Almost hungry.]

Course, you might not want to ride with us.

But there's five of us here...... And well, I was thinking....

...Huh? What do you mean?

Six. [jerks an incorporeal thumb at the third ghost, lurking half-visible behind the one with the wedge.]

And I mean, you might not want to be left alone with a group of poltergeists. You know what poltergeists do, right?

[the quiet one suddenly smiles behind the leader, still silent. it is not a nice smile.]
