Ometotchtli

[You enter a room made entirely of thick glass and patterned porcelain. Fluffy pillows and beanbags are scattered across the floor, providing plenty of comfortable places to sit, but they probably don't make up for what's on the ceiling (spears of jagged glass, steaming kettles of some boiling liquid), or the view through the floor (a long, long drop down into a pit, wherein weapons glint, sharp and business-ends pointed up towards you).

A round table stands in the middle of the room. Upon it stands six vases, each one the color of one team, and a scattering of gems in three different colors: obsidian, sapphire, and crystals.]

[this is his first game so he's freaking out]

What is this exactly?

It is a game. We do tasks, and we gain memories from them. I do not think this looks like a very pleasant game.

Yeah sorry, that wasn't a good question-- I know it's a game.

[looking up at the ceiling]

Miles told me the games are all different. This one looks nasty.

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. It is probably... not a good game. But we need to be careful with it.

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
[swallows hard] What does that mean in a game like this? We have to attack all out in the end, right?
lucciola: (pic#4851526)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
We are required to play all our attacks, and the other teams probably has the same requirements. Our attacks will be targeted at other teams. I am guessing the vase colours represent the other teams. We decide on which team we want to attack, and—

[looks up at the spikes and spears]

If our team gets attacked...

We'll suffer for it... [his voice isn't shaking but he's sweating bullets] That's why we have the other stones, right? To defend with.

Yes. I am assuming so.

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
And I'm guessing that's why we have to be careful about attacking. Just hitting everyone will only hurt us.

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
It is not sure that we will know who is attacking us either. Some teams might do it on random, because I do not believe anyone wants to do this. Others will avoid teams because they have friends on them. It... is a difficult game.
horsefacing: (when the words)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
It is, but we have to play. Aren't we trying to win?

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. That is the point of it. It is better to try and not think about what is happening afterwards.

We have twelve attacks we are required to use. I would rather not attack any of the teams, but we do not have a choice. I do not know what teams to choose, other than that I would rather not do anything to Amalthea.
horsefacing: (to come back home)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
[frowning] Why Amalthea? I guess you have friends there or something?

[shutting his eyes] Shit! I don't know who to pick either. I want to say we shouldn't attack a couple of teams, but that's not how this game works. It isn't fair!
lucciola: (sparkle in the night)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I have ... a friend there, yes.

It is not designed to be fair. I would suggest spreading the attacks out on all the teams. But we can put one extra sapphire stone on the teams we want to protect, regardless. That would negate the attack we do.
horsefacing: (nothing i could give)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
When you say all the teams do you include us in that? It's the only way it divides up evenly. Either way I agree with protecting the teams we mentioned, but we can't leave ourselves too vulnerable. We've got that ability to counter possible attacks too. It's probably a bad idea not to use it.
lucciola: (pic#4851391)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I did not think of that. Perhaps we should use the crystals for our own gain, and the sapphires for the other teams.

That still makes it uneven, however.

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
It won't be even no matter what. Let's protect the teams we've said we'll protect and try to maximize our attacks elsewhere.
lucciola: (pic#4851434)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
All right...

What teams do you want to protect?

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Barghest. Especially since it looked like little Lupus was on their own...

Takshaka too, and I guess Amalthea for your friend's sake, right?
lucciola: (pic#4851521)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
[nods]

Then we will negate our attacks on those teams with sapphires, and put the rest obsidian gems on the other teams?

[explaining as per the submitted format down there!]
horsefacing: (for something out there)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
[also nodding] That makes sense. We just need to use those crystals now.
lucciola: (pic#4851475)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] lucciola 2013-12-05 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
We do not know which teams will attack us, so... perhaps we should just put them against the teams we did not give sapphires?
horsefacing: (you were so real)

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Strategically I think that makes most sense. We can't reflect attacks at teams we're committed to protecting.

[actually other logic would argue that you could but stupid singlemind boy is stupidly singleminded]

Re: Mingle

We could, but I am hoping they are thinking the same as us.

Re: Mingle

[personal profile] horsefacing 2013-12-05 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it feels weird to think we're trusting the other teams. I wonder if they're trusting us.

We do not know. I merely know Rook more than the other people on his team.
