Canis's heart

The moment you step through the mirror door, you seem to - slip, as if the floor were made of wax, but when you fall there is no floor to catch you; only darkness.

You fall for some time. Eventually, it feels as if you're not falling at all - but rather, floating . . . and some time after that, it almost feels as if you have no body at all. The light from which the entrance of Canis's heart is disappears quickly, and you're left with nothing - not even your own screams, if you have any; nothing seems to leave your throat, and there's no sound at all, besides. Even the rushing of wind is gone, and your own pulse seems to fade away. . .

. . . what penetrates your consciousness next is the soft sound of music. Someway or another, you find yourself on a white platform; you're dressed in plain clothes of your team color, all items gone from your person. In front of you, four stones float; all perfectly square and identical to each other. Each have images - a sword, a staff, a bow and arrow, and a sparkling circle . . . you understand what you must do.

[ reaches over to try and tilt his hat enough to see his face clearly ]

[ she breathes in sharply, gently touches his cheek. ]

Sirius... What are these flowers?

Allows for that, while pulling at a weed.

"They're 'emotions'."

[ and she immediately tries to close her other hand over his to stop him from pulling it up. ]

No. You- Emotions are important!

[ there's clear distress in her expression, eyes wide and fingers trembling. ]

Canis' feelings are important.

[ guess who has a thing that is shaped like a canis and several glass shards embedded both in his arms and canis's hands. "canis" who is. thrown over his shoulder.

surprise: it's mira. ]

--Sparrow. [ ttilts his head back to the other thing. ] Oi.

"I'm not removing all of them."

He continues to pull.

"Just the bad ones."

Then, he glances to Mira and Canis, looking surprised.

". . . . Where did you get that?"

All emotions are important, even the bad ones!

[ but then oops, there's Mira and Canis and yyyyyyyep this is distressing ]

What happened?

[ she stands as soon as she processes what's going on, but doesn't let go of Sirius' hand so she's. she's kind of pulling him along. ]

He's mine, an' I ain't lettin' go of 'em.

[ no matter what kind of canis this one is. but. shifting the glass shards in his arms. although--that does cause the glass to dig further into his arm. ouch. ]

Stop pullin' shit out, else I'll make you stop.

"He's not yours. He can't be yours. What did you do?"

The earth seems to shake. . . but it quickly passes, as if nothing ever happened.

"They have to be pulled. There are too many. It's not healthy for him."

Mira, you don't have to let go of him. Sit down, please, and we'll figure this out.

[ though she stares long and hard at the glass shards, fingers curling tight around Sirius' hand. ]

It's not healthy for feelings to be discarded instead of discussed, either. Instead of trying to get rid of them, let us help Canis through them.

[ sssslowly sits himself down, pulling canis onto his lap and dropping the shards he'd grabbed onto him, too. ]

'm sorry.

"Canis" takes the shards, pulling them close and holding onto them tightly as he bleeds onto Mira and onto the ground. . . though if one stared at the blood long enough, it glitches, turning into yellow-and-black code before turning back into red blood.

"There's too many to do that with. It's best to just take them out."

There's a pause.

"What did you do to 'Devotion'?"

[ turning to Sirius ]

It's never best to treat feelings like that. They're precious things, worth all the time it takes to look after them properly.

Instead of pulling them up, help me take care of their injuries. They need our help.

[ clearly sparrow can deal with this better than he can so he'll just sit here and.

sshove his face against canis's shoulder. ]

"They keep hurting him though, and he doesn't know what to do about it. It's better if they're gone."

"Sirius" pauses, before speaking again. "That's not supposed to be here. But they broke ████████ and broke Devotion. I can't help them."

Devotion is unresponsive.

If he doesn't know, we'll show him. We won't let him struggle through them alone, not anymore.

[ she tries to pry his hands away from the flower, to hold it between hers. ]

They're in front of us, hurting. Even if all we can do is bandage their injuries, we can definitely help them.

Don't give up on either of them, understand?

. . 'm fine. [ he's bleeding but. ]

Jus' save Canis.

". . . If you say so. . . . I'll see what I can do for your friend. But I can't help Devotion; that's going to be stuck like that for a while."

And he plucks the flower out of Sparrow's hand, before leaving to pluck a few more. Interestingly though, it seems like there are a lot more flowers than before. . . ? All of them in various states of withered and dying, but hey, they're kind of alive there.

[ oh my god

first things first, she rips off any sections of her clothes that aren't totally necessary and starts trying to gently pull the shards from Canis' hands and wrap the fabric around them once the glass is out. ]

Don't be stupid, Mira. If you're hurt, how can you help Canis?

--don't take those from 'em. They're important.

[ snatching back at the shards no, sparrow, stop, he needs those. ]

Sirius goes about doing. . . whatever, while Devotion turns away from Sparrow, holding onto the shards even more tightly - almost as if he were trying to press them into himself.

I'm not going to take them away, I promise. I'm going to wrap them up in some of the cloth, so they'll be safe.

Is that alright?

[ she's looking at Mira while gently touching Devotion's face. ]

[ turning devotion in his arms so he's. pressed more firmly to mira's chest.

and when he speaks his voice cracks a little, on the verge of tears-- ]
