The moment you step through the mirror door, you seem to - slip, as if the floor were made of wax, but when you fall there is no floor to catch you; only darkness.

You fall for some time. Eventually, it feels as if you're not falling at all - but rather, floating . . . and some time after that, it almost feels as if you have no body at all. The light from which the entrance of Canis's heart is disappears quickly, and you're left with nothing - not even your own screams, if you have any; nothing seems to leave your throat, and there's no sound at all, besides. Even the rushing of wind is gone, and your own pulse seems to fade away. . .

. . . what penetrates your consciousness next is the soft sound of music. Someway or another, you find yourself on a white platform; you're dressed in plain clothes of your team color, all items gone from your person. In front of you, four stones float; all perfectly square and identical to each other. Each have images - a sword, a staff, a bow and arrow, and a sparkling circle . . . you understand what you must do.

Devotion doesn't look at Mira, his eyes instead trained on the shards.

So this's Duty, then. A'right.

[ exhales sharply. ]

I can't summon my wings. Is there a way to fix that?

"Only Magicians can use wings."

Guess I picked the wrong thing, then.

[ let's just walk a little. ]

"Don't touch the plants." Devotion warns, looking at the ground. . . . It's still so hot, too; every step you take makes you feel weaker and weaker. . .

Gotcha.

[ is there anything here but plants though. ]

If you're climbing up to the top, there's a plateau-like path curling around the mountain, and a lovely patxh of shade too - something that would be lovely to rest in, for the moment. It's even big enough for the both of you.

[ yyyes okay let's go rest for a second. ]

"Wait - !"

A little too late, Devotion yells; the shade is slimy somehow, stinging wherever Mira sits, and the ground rumbles ; Mira seems to sink into the shade, tipping into a hole that wasn't there before (or was it?).

[ oh. well shit. TRYING TO CLIMB HIS WAY OUT OF THIS HOLE?? ]

Devotion takes Mira by the shirt, scooting forward before pushing him out; there's the hissing sound as the ground in front of them lifts, forming into a forked tongue as it tries to push them both back in.

[ nnnnope fuck you, tongue. gripping onto that shit in his fist and taking off--to walk around it. hopefully a twisted tongue is enough of a discouragement. ]

You can try to touch it, but it burns your hands to the point of numbness - not that it stops Devotion from trying it, anyway.

[ whatever, HE HAS THIS TONGUE, even if it's numbing his hand, and is tugging devotion away from that shit. ]

If only they had a sword, right??

Devotion tugs Mira away, too - and with super strength, it isn't that difficult to pull him away from the snake, though the sudden force will make them both tumble out of the snake's mouth unceremoniously.

ffalling back against devotion, moving a hand up to grip his injured arm. ]

Thankfully the snake isn't going to go after them, being that it's seemingly trapped in the shadow. . . . the desert heat burns, with clouds of dust making the air thick and musty and wholly uncomfortable to breathe in. Devotion moves to pull Mira, holding him against his own person. And although Mira has the max level of health, his wounds still burn, unhealed. The sharp numbness seems to spread, from his hand to his arm and up to his shoulder, making it painfully difficult to move. . . .

[ ffffuck. ]
