Years ago, you recieved a charter from the United Empire, and were officially made a member of the newly christened Trade Company! Your goal was to seek fortune wherever it may be found in this strange land...of course, through force of arms, if the natives failed to cooperate.

But now things are different. You no longer work for the Empire, but for your homeland of Teutonia -- and to a lesser extent, the people you've come to associate here in Jambudvipa. I see. That makes things much easier, then. I wish to learn everything I can about Vaiyu, if you're willing to teach me.

[Hmm... Seems like a trap. ...It's probably just me being paranoid, though. This is better than a compulsion to enter, at least, so it should... Probably be fine as long as I keep myself polite and don't say anything stupid. Thank god this thought process isn't showing on my face.]

What did you wish to know, in particular?

Well, there are a few things. First, I'd like to know more about the Way of the Aether. I understand that it's the connection between Darkness, Water, and the Sky, though I'm not certain on the precise connection. How Vaiyu connects to the other Devas is also an important place to start.

Aside from that, the religious practices themselves are of particular interest: One can learn a lot about a culture from how they worship, after all.

Vaiyu binds light and darkness together, as Pousan binds fire and water together. While they are both opposed to each other, these intersections of the Way of the Aether and the Way of the Land means that they are what holds everything together.

The Way of the Aether is formed as without the light, the sky is nothing -- its true form is darkness. And beneath the waves, only darkness reigns. For creatures of both the sky and the sea, this darkness serves to protect.

To worship Vaiyu, all that is needed is to tend to his children.

Tend to his children... Birds, then?

[I suppose that explains the gilded cage, though not the propellers exactly...]

I noticed a lot of propellers around the sky shrine, too. They don't seem to have been moving, but it seemed like they were supposed to... Do you know what the propellers are supposed to do, by any chance?

I do not attend the shrine, so I don't know.

That's true, yes. And it seems like the attendants for the Way of the Aether are roaming around. I should probably see if I can find a place with a lot of birds to see if I can find an attendant, then.
