While arguing with it--[nodding at the shadow]--you passed out and it assumed a monstrous form. We were forced to fight it for our lives. Fortunately, we managed to defeat it, as well as keep you mostly unharmed.

[He glances back at his shadow, expression tightening before he lets himself chuckle weakly.]

I had a hunch he would fight. I just didn't think I would be out of the count for it.
