[You exit the parlor through a doorway in your team's color and find yourself in some kind of entry hall. Aside from the one behind you, there are four doors - one on each of the side walls, and two opposite the entrance - each with an image carved into it. They're a bit hard to make out, however, since only one torch on the far wall is lit, lending the place a gloomy atmosphere. What you can see is that the room, once richly decorated, is now a mess; the walls are covered in peeling, royal purple wallpaper, and great swaths of the ceiling are coated with sticky cobwebs. The floor is covered with large marble tiles, inlaid with some kind of swirling design in glittering gold - but sadly, it too is out of shape. The tiles seem to shift a bit under your weight, and some of them are even missing altogether.

If you try the doors you'll find that all of them are locked, and no amount of manhandling can get them to budge.]

[OOC: This game is a treasure hunt/dungeon crawl! Your characters will be exploring the rooms they pass through and facing different challenges in each one. Some rooms will be exploratory, others will have specific rules! The goal is just to reach the end. Teams will be scored on things like teamwork, cleverness, creativity, etc.

Skills are ON, but there will be penalties if you mess up Knut's castle. He lives here, you know!]

[You get a strange sense that someone out there approves of your methods! The tape roll easily reaches, hitting the floor with a small clatter.

A clatter that echoes through the room, and is followed by a sudden shuffling noise, and a soft, distant:]

Meow?

[ damn. Sparrow will straighten out a paperclip and bite it between her teeth so her hands will be feel to grab the tape and climb down.

i have a pointy paperclip. bring it on, cat. ]

[There's no sign of the cat...yet. But it's a good idea to stay on guard. Down the tape you go!

Once on the floor, the door to the kitchen is straight ahead. To the left, a couch and an end table. To the right, the door, a TV, and a recliner facing it.

How will you proceed?]

[ ah, her feet are on the floor! excellent. she takes her make-shift sword in hand and starts walking... straight ahead, darting across the open floor.

this is actually pretty exciting...! ]

[It’s a bold strategy, let’s see if it pays off for her.

You pitter-patter across the floor, heading straight for the doorway without fear! The atmosphere is tense, but as you make it halfway across without incident you start to let down your guard. This seems easy enough...you're almost there now...

A mere foot from the door, a fuzzy black face suddenly peeks around the corner, eyes fixed right on Sparrow.]

Mew?

[ that was going to be much too easy, she's... almost glad for the excitement. ]

Hello! You're Angel, right?

Mrow.

[You're not making any threatening movements yet, so the kitten pads into the living room to sniff at you curiously. She is a tiny (though certainly much less so from your current perspective), fuzzy black thing with a pink bow around her neck. A terrifying hellbeast indeed.]

[...coming up behind sparrow...

only to sneeze, i'm sorry he's allergic to cats]

[ ...c-cute.

she smiles and holds still to allow for investigating, even making sure Angel doesn't scratch her nose on the paperclip! ]

I'm Sparrow!

[sniff sniff sniff what is this creature...it smells like the things that feed me but it's so small...

She gets a good thorough sniffing of everyone close enough to do so and then. Puts a paw on Sparrow and pushes curiously. Can I play with this???

She might knock you over, sorry.]

[ Sparrow is a very tiny person-turned rat, so she falls over with a small "oof". ]

Don't do that! We need to get some cheese from the kitchen!

[ she tries to stand up and pet the kitty's nose. ]

[nooo I wanna plaaay

She tries to bat at Sparrow a little more, but is happily distracted by nosepets. She starts to purr and still doesn't seem to understand anything you're saying, but she's not stopping you or eating you or anything.]

[catching up after investigating the table some more...can he sneak past into the kitchen and check it out while Sparrow is petting the kitten?]

[ if only i had my kittymask...!

she'll pet Angel for a little longer before continuing toward the kitchen door. ]

Mew? Mew!

[Angel follows insistently, trying to grab Sparrow by the scruff of her neck! It's super clumsy though, she's pretty much just bumping sadly at the back of your head.

Swan could easily get past if he doesn't move too suddenly, since that would grab the cat's attention.]

[he pauses for a moment, looking pained at leaving Sparrow behind, then just mutters]

Please don't get eaten, Sparrow.

[then he starts cautiously, not moving too fast, into the kitchen, leaving Sparrow to distract the cat]

[ Sparrow notices Swan out of the corner of her eye and decides to... take up the role of *~*DISTRACTION*~* ]

You wanna play more, Angel?

[ turns around to give her more noserubs ]

Angel, happy to have a playmate, completely ignores Swan in favor of pushing at Sparrow again and then rolling over cutely. The whole thing is super adorable.

MEANWHILE. Swan heads into the kitchen. There's counters with cupboards underneath to the right, and a refrigerator to the left.]

[does it look like he can actually get the refrigerator open, or is that beyond his tiny powers?]

[It's a normal human-sized fridge and you are a not-normal rat-sized human. So, the question is how strong are you?]

[Strong, but he hasn't regained superstrength yet. So after tugging at the bottom edge of the fridge door and failing for a bit, he'll spirit his way up to the top of the counters and look for...a spatula or a large ladle, anything long and sturdy that'd give him leverage.]

[There's a utensil rack hanging above one counter that holds a spaghetti fork, a deep ladle, a flat wooden spoon, and a metal spatula.]

[He'll grab the spatula, stagger across the counter dragging it, wedge the flat end into the door of the refrigerator, and pry it open!]

[Success! It opens with a pop and swings gently open.]

[and he spirits his way into the refrigerator so he can look around for anything useful, especially cheese. He'll just withstand the cold.]
