AMALTHEA
[You exit the parlor through a doorway in your team's color and find yourself in some kind of entry hall. Aside from the one behind you, there are four doors - one on each of the side walls, and two opposite the entrance - each with an image carved into it. They're a bit hard to make out, however, since only one torch on the far wall is lit, lending the place a gloomy atmosphere. What you can see is that the room, once richly decorated, is now a mess; the walls are covered in peeling, royal purple wallpaper, and great swaths of the ceiling are coated with sticky cobwebs. The floor is covered with large marble tiles, inlaid with some kind of swirling design in glittering gold - but sadly, it too is out of shape. The tiles seem to shift a bit under your weight, and some of them are even missing altogether.
If you try the doors you'll find that all of them are locked, and no amount of manhandling can get them to budge.]
[OOC: This game is a treasure hunt/dungeon crawl! Your characters will be exploring the rooms they pass through and facing different challenges in each one. Some rooms will be exploratory, others will have specific rules! The goal is just to reach the end. Teams will be scored on things like teamwork, cleverness, creativity, etc.
Skills are ON, but there will be penalties if you mess up Knut's castle. He lives here, you know!]

Otacon, if you could take care of that corner - rotate it around like this. [DEMONSTRATES.]

Okay... it looks like you know what you're doing.

Hahah... well, it's a puzzle. There's a solution somewhere, and if we find the right patterns in here, we should be able to rearrange it to say... well, something.

[ It's practically audible in his tone: "aw, shit." ]

Only one way to find out, though.

Oh, one of these!

It's definitely talking about the doors, though. Four. Route. Left. This one says Challenge. It's probably letting us know what to expect behind each door so we can make an educated choice about which one to take.

[ moving his head around as Technic works on the puzzle, eying the text. ]
Four ... four more-- four challenge, four paths. Aha! Four paths before... right, no. Before you lay, there! Four paths before you lay, one of each brawn and brain. Between those two you will find...
If it's between, then... two! Two paths. Uhhh, two paths more of vex ... vex ... [ glance glance glance. ] Vexing design.
The left rou-- te's end can be quite far. But once within the tests aren't hard. If it's a challenge you desire, take the shortcut right with risks more dire.
[ steps back and points to the single door on the left wall. ] So that one is 'brain', going by the image of the book.
[ he then points to the left door of the two opposite the entrance. ] This one has a long way to the end, but the challenge will be easier overall.
[ then to the right door of the two opposite the entrance. ] That one will be the opposite. Shorter, but harder to get through.
[ and finally to the single door on the right wall. ] Which leaves brawn for the sword.
So, which should we choose? I remember how to use a sword now, if the image of the right door is being literal. Though I can probably fare just as well with the door on the left, as can Otacon. So that doubles our chances of getting through whaetver awaits within.
Unless we want to go for one of the two extremes in the middle, but we don't know exactly what they have in store for us. If we want to win, going what's considered the easiest route should be the last choice. So it depends on if the two of you want to go for might be the hardest door.

So then, our best choice is either the 'brain' door, or the most difficult shortcut door.

As the final tile slides into place, all the unlit torches lining the walls burst into life, flooding the room with light. You can now clearly see everything, from the pictures on the doors to the poem written on the tiles in flowing gold script:
"Four paths before you lay
One of each brawn and brain
Between those two you will find
Two paths more of vexing design
The left route's end can be quite far
But once within, its tests aren't hard
If it's a challenge you desire
Take the shortcut right, with risks more dire"
With a loud click, the doors all unlock!]
