There is a defiled creature of unknown name and origins in the well. It would be good to dispose of it, but I would not recommend such a task for someone who does not feel up to it.

...It's probably better if I leave it for someone who can fight.

Knowing your limitations is essential; there is no shame in leaving a task beyond yourself to another's hand. I am curious, though, as to how you reached the well without passing me first.

Oh, uh... This is going to sound rude, but you were just sweeping and minding your own business, so I didn't think you were too important.

She's also not very good about reading a book by its cover. But sometimes it's the most innocuous things in life that have the biggest impact.

Okay. Uh, I guess it's kind of related. Because, like, back home it's kind of the one thing everybody is afraid of most, at least until they're really old and miserable. Nobody knows for sure what happens after it, so I think that's what makes it so terrifying. Most people do everything they can to avoid it even if it's going to happen to everyone.

Here, though... It's sort of different, since people come back afterwards. But, I mean, even if logically you know you're going to come back, it's not as easy to block out thousands of years of human biology that basically tells you dying is bad and to be terrified of it.

Then, you also find death terrifying.
